This thread is in the wrong forum... but no, animated gifs do not work. There is already a suggestion for such however (I think) if you want to delete this thread and add your vote to it.
Vince, are Suggestions on the modern Suggestion board are getting time-locked? I think it's only suggestions from the old Suggestion board (and the other sub-boards like General Discussion) that got affected by that setting.
I feel like that would make another good Suggestion for forum improvements then: Disable time-lock on Suggestions Forum. Allow commenting on older posts if it's in Suggestion forum & not marked "Complete".
It kind of goes along with "Improve search results on the forum; allow searching by subforum" in the category of: Suggestions for Forum Improvements.
being able to use animated effects would expand on the /fx capabilities with fire. While I think I would prefer to see more of a plugin style FX expansion that you could outsource the work to the marketplace, this would be a good way to do it on the cheap maybe?
This would be an awesome feature. I've seen some incredible maps made using this and honestly would consider moving to another virtual table top to use them if roll20 won't support it.
This feature would be excellent, though I do have a couple questions for the devs.
* Would the limit on file size prohibit the upload of high-quality animated maps, effectively limiting animations to tokens? * Would animation within the Roll20 framework cause performance issues while zooming or scrolling? * Would this feature be available to Base accounts, or only to Plus and/or Pro accounts?
I didn't think anyone would still be commenting on my 3 year old post, haha. This still is a wanted feature from me, as I could create incredibile scenery and perhaps even a title screen for the players when we aren't playing. Ah, to dream~
