I was DMing for a couple of years for my son's group, mainly D&D
3.5, including trips to GenCon UK, but have had a break from it because
he went off to university for a few years. We had a revival game over Christmas and now
I'm all keen again. I've been picking up 5E and I learn quickly. I'm UK-based and available weekends and evenings (not Sunday mornings though). I'm
an (amateur) actor/director so role-play is great, but I'm equally
happy solving puzzles, and/or kicking down the door and stomping
whatever moves. The key thing for me is being able to laugh, while still
taking the game reasonably seriously. I'm not keen on rules lawyering
and, when I'm DM, I am more likely to make a decision on whether a move
would be fun to watch, than in frantically scanning the books for the
exact rules that might apply. It's also
important to me that we let characters develop and follow their own
motivations, rather than meta-gaming too much.
