Other Planet Eris DM's and game sessions

The general rule is that your characters can be transferred between DM's and their games in the Planet Eris setting. The following is a list of regularly held roll20 games: Durthos, City of Adventure by Norman Harmin, next game is Friday 1/23/2015 at 6:30pm Central U.S. For those of you who live in Austin, several real life games are held on a regular basis. Below is a list of local austin games and their next game dates: Emancipation of the Golden Dragon by Nathan Jennings, the quest has been completed. I hope he decides to run another adventure. Rappan Athuk by Christian Southwick is currently on indefinite hiatus, but the DM has expressed he would like to start it up again. Mountain of the Sky by Richard Davis is on temporary hiatus and we expect a regular game to start up again soon. Urchin Isles Expeditions by Lawson Bennett is on indefinite hiatus, the DM is working on a new module. Isle of Craxis by Alex Johnson is on indefinite hiatus. Wild Lands of Oros by Jimm Johnson is on indefinite hiatus, the DM is working on a new module/supplements/and family. Skull Mountain by Jimm Johnson

How varied are these games as far as house rules, supplement usage, variant rules, etc?
These all use Planet Eris and LBB's as the basis, with some B/X books as guidance. Each DM might have a little differences on how they rule on things. All of them stick to only Fighting-men, Thieves, Magic-Users, and Clerics as the primary classes. Emancipation of the Gold Dragon requires that your character be of lawful alignment. Most of them do not make use of the expanded spell lists like I do; only Rappan Athuk allows what I term are the "rare" spells.
Honestly with the way I've been developing downtime character profession rules, the sub-classes aren't necessary. Paladins are just overpowered fighting-men/cleric hybrids that rely on the DM trying to restrict player actions, so that will probably never be a Planet Eris thing. Rangers can be anyone that learns how to track and hunt prey, Assasins are anyone that joins the assassin's guild and survives leaving it, and Druids in OD&D are Clerics that only carry nature themed spells and worship the gods of nature and balance. I suppose there are monks too, but you guys would have to visit Ishpan to learn their hand to hand fighting techniques. The four primary classes cover nearly every conceivable character concept when professions are mixed in.
Oh, I thought you had a Ranger class you were working on Steven? I would totally take a character to Ishpan to learn Finger Poke of Death!
I was considering a ranger class, but I think more than anything I just need to see how the ad&d version would translate into OD&D and see if it can fit as a profession instead. In AD&D they are just fighting men with ability to track and surprise their prey. They don't have bonuses to ranged attacks, but they do get more hp to begin with and at higher levels get the added ability to use specific spells. I need to make sure that was all, because if that is the case I'll just remove the extra hp and spells, and say that any new fighting-man that asks can be one. There are downsides of course.
CountingWizard said: I need to make sure that was all, because if that is the case I'll just remove the extra hp and spells. Boo, that's no fun.

Cool, I was wondering how it worked moving characters around. I'm familiar with FLAILSNAILS conventions so thought it might be similiar.
And in case anyone is wondering, yes, Flail Snails are a REAL D&D Monster :D

Steven, would love to join an Eris game but today's not good for me. Keep us posted on future ones in Austin.
Finally starting my Planet Eris Campaign "Durthos, City of Adventure". Fridays roll20 6:30ish CST https://app.roll20.net/join/641154/IxjJWw As might be surmised by title, the centerpiece is a large (27,000 peoples!) city in Southern edge of Helikos next to the Savage Kingdoms. If players tire of Citycrawl, there's nearby ruins of Anatolis and a megadungeon or two therein. Lots to explore, figure out, and a even a few monsters to slay and loot. I'll link to and post more info on campaign site as I get the chance. Open to all, Planet Eris Rules. New or existing characters.
