[Interest Check] World of Warcraft (D20)

Hey there, not a DM for this personally, but I wanted to check whether there's still people who'd like to DM & play this masterfully crafted D20 variant in this great setting? It is, for me, by far the best done D20 variant rules and theme wise, with tons of classic and thematic variant and prestige classes & races.
I was actually thinking of combining D&D rules to a WoW RP server and use that as the table.
I don't quite follow . you'd combine D&D with a server of the MMORPG ...how? For clarity, I was talking about: this

So pretty much its D&D but instead of roll20, you use WoW. A Private server would best with GM rights so you can throw out NPCs and then you would have the whole world to play with. Just a regular RP server would be fine too. But I suppose that rule system would work.
I have played WoW for quite a few years. I am trying to get back into D&D, so this might be a good way to do both.
I think that mutants and masterminds would be a better system for WoW. Limit certain powers to certain classes.
I got all the pdfs i think but since no one has interest those pdfs have een shelved for a long time. Is there a prospective GM? I'd gm myself but I dont know much of the lore so I wouldnt want to spend half the game arguing over the lore and setting mistakes.
Devin, the point isn't to make the RPG look like the MMORPG. Far from it. It's about evoking the feeling of the Warcraft setting, mainly based on Wacraft 3 and FT. Originally the game was called just Warcraft d20 but with the advent of WoW there was a revision under that name - but unlike 4th ed, it was never intended to play like an MMO, and that's how I feel it needs to stay. There seems to be quite a bit of interest, let's wait and see if someone experience with this picks it up. The main reason I'm not DMing is because I'm already running 2, and there's no published campaigns and a very few scattered adventures in the sourcebooks - I have no time prepping a custom one, and would mostly prefer to play in this case anyway.
I´ve had a friend pester me about running a WoW campaign for ages, I might be interested in either running (or potentially GM one, if suitable interest is found) I am in GMT+1 it should be noted.
I would play. Dont know the rules but im a quick learner.

Ferlond, excellent! Do we have our GM? The main question is, which faction to play, where in the world does the campaign start, and whether we'd like to create a strongly themed party around one of the races (which I like)? WoW is pretty well balanced overall but let us know if you have any pet peeves or mods. I only recall Reckless attack (feat) being situationally quite OP. As for the books, are Warcraft D20 books in (unless where an updated version in the WoW books exist) or out? Finally, there's Even More Magic & Mayhem, which changes things quite a bit, it's a sort of a fan-edit by one of the devs very late after the line's official end. It's divisive. Goatman etc: It's essentially a D&D 3.5 variant. You know how to play if you can play 3.5.
Well, I have GM'ed Pathfinder, but there's are reason why I don't use that system anymore. I am GMT +1 and would love to play this though. Just not very up for the ammount of number-crunching being a GM would put you through.
If I´d go into this it would require a session zero, a proper sit down and chat about what we want in terms of expectance and similar. I´ve got quite some experiance in the DM department so its not a major issue - but every group is radically diffrent from the next. But with that said: I´d personally suggest we actually think about what we want to do, do we want to have the canon be pushed aside - kept in the background or be highly relevant - aka: you can´t change diddly squat, or do we want to start off after WC3 (current WoW-lore) or just keep it isolated, a few ideas We start during the first war. Are you bad enough dudes to gather behind the stormwind forces as they ride to war? Live through battles that changed the future of all of Azeroth, join in the humans bitter war against the orcish horde as a kingdom where peace have ruled since time immemorial - feel the clash of nobles and culture as the kingdom is torn apart by the edies of war, old pacts broken - family on family, the orcish horde are coming to end your pittifull lives. Here we can rule it diffrently: Maybe you want to be knights of stormwind - nobodies that where asigned to do important things, yes but ultimately detached from what happened, nameless grunts who sacrificed everything, yet despite this had stormwind crumble around you, or just maybe by your pressence you could change things? We could start during WC3 and the plague. Live the horrorfilled campaign as the undead rise in Lordareon, stand with your neighbours and learn to fight in the most horrible time imaginable, join the scarlet crusade or make your own path across the war-torn land, everywhere you go there is no safety, struggle for life in hell and pray the light will deliver you. Or potentially roll as members of Arthas crusade in Northren, left behind when he accended the throne. You could also have joined with the horde, struggling to survive in their new homeland - or even as the elves/Nightelfs We could aim for after WC3, Azeroth is up for the grabs, horde and alliance as the are know today are around - be true champions of your factions. What-ever the case, a time period and a firm stance on canon is probably needed.
If this'll be anything like a private rp server, I wanna be as non-lore offensive as possible. The people that i've played with rip each other apart with they lore on WoW and newbs and snowfalkes are like breakfast to em. Elitist pricks, even they acknowledged it. Forlond did suggest a lot of good starting points.
I could be very interested in joining you all ... provided we can work out a play time that's suitable... that's been shown to be quite a sticking point ... also GMT +1 ... my skype is lightful_now, feel free to add me

I'd very much like a game that starts at the Warcraft I timeline, progressing at a semi-rapid pace all the way to the start of WC3 and WoW, on either side, though Orcs would be quite interesting. I'd be fine if we can't change diddly-squat relating to the war results, after all, we'd probably just be grunts and not be in command, but personal glory and survival of self and key NPCs could be at stake. Of course, I'd love it if we could become key players and actually change things around - perhaps if things go differently, it's the humans who have to ecacuate to Kalimdor and have to find accord with Tauren and Night Elves, and it's the Horde that's dealing with the Plague - while a part goes after the humans. Besides that, the end of WC3 / start of WoW, and progressing freely (with everything up in the air) would be best default option. Goatman, I don't think WoW MMORPG players are any real indication of anything regarding actual roleplaying, so I wouldn't worry about having to conform to canon exactly as far as the progression of the storyline goes.
If an opportunity to change "canon" (which is a pretty moot expression in a FAN-run "make believe" game) presents itself organically through play. It'd just be awesome. Personally, I think enforcing conformity to canon in table-top rpg's isn't necessary, unless you play with general munchkins who'd only intrest in the game was to try to kill Thrall as an infant, just because he could, due to player knowledge. I prefer not to play with kind of meta-player, since I am very much into being immersed with the world. That requires atleast the illusion of free choice, so that you can feel you are acting in accordance with your characters background and beliefs. I am up for game-play in any era, as long as there's a theme. Like you point out Ferlond, we'd do best with a session zero, figuring these things out. I hope this takes off!
You could always just do "alternate dimensions", my brother did that when we played the game. Had Horde races/Alliance races work together, but that didnt stop the game from coming across evil versions of our races. It was pretty fun!
I would be very interested in this :)
Right, I can take on the GM rolls as mentioned - I am GMT+1 generally speaking I tend to work nights, so my afternoons GMT+1 should be fine - a few evenings are free throughout the week as well, general days I can play would be: Saturdays, (generally speaking all day, I generally only hit the pub on sundays/Fridays) Monday Afternoons Possible fridays, afternoon. Wednesdays (after 22.00 GMT+1) Lets hear peoples time zones before we move onwards. If you are interested in a more direct manner, lets create a chatroom on skype, contact me at: Darkneroan, and we´ll move from there.
GMT +1 here... Monday and Wednesday could work out for me.

Can do all those, though in general I tend to be busier than normal on Saturdays. I'm +2 / Finland.
also GMT+1 ... I would absolutely be in favor of playing post WC3, more space for own stories.
GMT+8. I can do the afternoon sessions you mentioned. Nights are out for me coz those usually mean the game starts at 3 or 4 in the morning in my timezone.
I am in Central time zone, which puts me about seven hours behind everyone in GMT+1 and fourteen behind anyone in GMT+8 So morning and afternoon will be what works for me generally
Morning/Afternoon is probably going to be the time I pick for this after reviewing my schedual, since I am a bit flexiable in how I work it should not be a major problem finding a common day. Please send me a Pm if you are interested and I`ll throw out my skype. I´ll probably take around 4-5 players, first come first serve basis as it where. I´ll expect a session zero before we start.
Err, you already sent out your skype info above, so I just contacted you there.
