Free pre-made adventures?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of any free, pre-made adventures for roll20 that I just need to download and then can use as a GM, as the only alternatives that I can see are paying for them or making one myself (which is what I've done so far). Thanks in advance.

Crow's Rest Island is the only free module. I dimly remember bad reviews for it, but I can't find them now. Rite Publishing does sell three separate modules together for $9.99, so that's the next best thing. There's a review (with spoilers) here . That's about it for stuff built for roll20.

No, the Orr Group (who make and run Roll20) offer pre-made modules through the Marketplace, but have a policy that if content is worth hosting, it's worth buying. Means that free modules aren't available, but also means that the ones that are there have been more thoroughly quality checked. Hope that helps answer the question.
It is pretty easy to write your own stuff. You could also port one of the thousands of free modules out there on the web to Roll 20 with a bit of effort. I always produce my own material, I got burned a few times by modules, so I prefer to control what I put in my world. My method is: Choose maps and artwork you wish to use. Choose main opponents and minions Choose minor and incidental opponents. By this point you should have some sort of plot or reasoning to fit all of this together. Place treasures and traps. Write rumors and helpful NPCs. Unleash upon the players and see how your plans fall apart. Rinse, repeat.
Thanks for all the help guys, guess I'll stick to making my own. Probably for the best anyway, this way I know all the intricate details of the module. Special thanks for the writing advice al e.!

Even if you don't play Dungeon World, I'd recommend reading the world-building advice section on Fronts and Moves. It's a system agnostic method of generating adventures and campaigns as your players progress. It might not be that you're stuck for ideas so much as time and prep though, in which case I think a pre-made module can be a huge boon.

sadly, the marketplace is not the place for free content. https://marketplace.roll20.net/home/becomecreator they dont want to allow free content as it could possibly / maybe undermine other paid contents as per: <><><><><> How does the Marketplace work? The Roll20 Marketplace exists as a distribution center, promoting professional level content. You retain ownership of your content and take 70% of all sales (with the remaining 30% going to Roll20 for distributing, advertising, and hosting the content, along with handling all credit card transaction fees). Are you only interested in paid items? Why not free content? The creators of Roll20 make more money off of subscriptions each month than they have made off the marketplace in total-- but we are fine with that because we want the content creators to be making the money off of their content. These elements have led us to the following beliefs: If content is worth hosting, it's probably worth payment. If content is good, it probably took an effort to make that's worth being rewarded monetarily. Free content can undervalue paid content, hurting other creators. There are some limited exceptions to this philosophy, but that handles most cases. <><><><><> it makes me sad to see this but there is nothing we can do about it. my Co-DM/player buddy was trying to encourage me to publish my campaign and that is the only reason i know about the above rule. after several weeks of comparing artists and writers for commission work, we found the marketplace rules. kinda lost motivation on publishing now, i bought Skyrim for the modding, not the DLC... i play D&D for the homebrew and the fantasy, endless content with an overactive imagination... its a low down dirty shame that i would have to charge people for something i would have give for free, just so i can put it in the marketplace and post it for everyone. we may just end up putting ours in PDF form and enclosing it and the image files in a zip/rar, possibly including a tutorial on how to set it up on roll 20 or other VTT apps. but i doubt anyone will ever see any content form me on the market. that being said.... I've put up a few Dropbox links from time to time with free stuff for people, and I know that both Devin Night and Simon Smith have made free tokens and maps available. Not made any completely free modules that I've heard of yet, but more on that in a moment. The thing for me is I have no idea how popular or unused these have been, and how many people have even seen them (not everyone browses the forums each day!). Furthermore doing it regularly would definitely hurt the income for Roll20, and I like to think that over the course of the year selling my doodles helps them generate a little extra cash to keep this amazing VTT going. Finally, and with the greatest of respect to the Iskoaya above, making a module that's ready to run in Roll20 takes a lot of time and effort. Making a module that is complete means you've got all the details to hand, you have multiple maps, tokens, and an in-depth explanation of everything the DM will need to know about running this game. It's not just like building a homebrew adventure, but more like building a homebrew and then the instructions to allow someone else to DM it. Once it is complete the whole module is ready to run in Roll20. There's no need to resize maps, upload tokens, draw in dynamic lighting and make journal entries. The module creator will have done all that for you. So, that's my support for the policy on modules. I respect that opinions may vary, but if you are passionate about getting that content into Roll20 I'm sure you can contact the Dev team and ask if they'd consider hosting it for say Mentor level subscribers for free, or donate the module to them to keep this site up and running.

We have a few mods and devs working on modules for roll20 and as Alan says, there is a lot of work. If anyone wishes to ask the devs why there is not that many free modules, please feel free to email them your questions at team@roll20.net.

The only thing I have to say on this is if you are going to use any copyright material, do not post a link to it here in the forums. It will be considered pirated material and will be deleted from the forums.

"after several weeks of comparing artists and writers for commission work" we understood that and where exploring options, till we found the marketplace rules.
