Date: 5th Richfest, 609 CY Attendance: Thruskk, Wulrakas, Clifton, Virgil ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: The morning begins with Thruskk being unchained and then offered new clothes (a long, frilly-sleeved purple shirt and tight pantaloons). Gribs and his wife bring fresh, albeit low-quality coffee to the party, and Gribs wishes Clifton and the others well on their journey. They set out immediately. After some time travelling through the Dreadwood they come across a small, twenty-foot clearing in the dense woods; a man (Virgil) greets them as they approach, and suddenly the group is ambushed by two Owlbears waiting in the trees. One seems in good health, while the other is covered in battle-wounds: five wooden spears are lodged in its body, and it is bleeding all over. The newcomer begins by lobbing a bolt of fire at the uninjured Owlbear, which goes wide and sets the tree ablaze. As the battle rages on dark black smoke begins to pour out into the clearing, making visibility sub-par at best. Clifton is knocked unconscious and begins to bleed out. Thruskk rages, focusing his attention on the Owlbear near the fire, while Wulrakas rushes to Clifton's aid and protects him from any further attacks. The injured Owlbear is killed by the newcomer, its face melted away by acid. Thruskk -- wielding a new maul as a weapon -- smashes the other Owlbear's skull in repeatedly. Virgil then fights the blaze using repetitive rays of frost, and eventually the fire dies down. Clifton manages to stabilize and regain consciousness.
