Dice rigged?

This must get brought up a lot, but this might serve as a outlite of frustration if anything. I've been playing Roll20 for 3 games now for my friends, and I (the dm) haven't been able to deal ANY damage to party in the last three encounters because of poor dice rolls. I mean, 80% of 100+ dice rolls have been less than 14, and so the party hasn't been challanged at. This has been MASSIVLY enyoing because now I think they are rigging the dice, because in the game they pick on powerful npcs that they shouldn't be able to beat, but they do because I keep rolling less than 5 on the rolls. Was there any way to check to see if my players are cheating?
You can mouse over the roll to see if they are bugging macros in their favor. Other than giving themselves plus to hit in a macro there is no way to cheat that does not involve some serious programming skills. Kim Jung Un is not one of your players is he? If so all bets are off.

A few thoughts and comments. First and foremost, with true randomness, variability is expected, swings happen. On the days you happened to be tending lower in a batch of merely 100 rolls or so, someone somewhere may have been tending higher for dozens of rolls, and other people were getting a wide range without a specific swing or trend, but overall across everyone, the distribution is the expected curve (across millions of rolls). So you've just happened to have some small batches of bad rolls out of the millions. It's one way of looking at it. But to answer your question. (EDIT: Mirrors what al said). If your players are rolling In-Line Macros (where the dice result shows up in a little yellow box instead of the whole dice formula showing), then the DM can mouse-over the yellow box to see what kind of math they're doing, and make sure they haven't hidden some trick into the formula. That's about the only way I can think of to do a chatroom-trick that could be called a dice cheat. Note that if they are rolling off the character sheet and it looks like a complicated rolling formula that doesn't mean cheating -- many of the Character Sheets generate complicated rolling formulas that appear when you mouse-over the inline roll. The cheat/trick way is like if you roll a d20 and put the code to reroll any 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, and so on, if you're just claiming to roll a plain unmodified d20.
Well, here is the thing. I don't think the players are cheating their rolls, I was wondering if they where cheating my rolls. Because I would roll for 7-8 badguys in a row and get the same roll. For instance, there was six goblins attacking and I rolled for them with "/r 1d20+3" and get a 5 on each of the six rolls. This would happen almost every time. This is not an excpeted true randomness, I don't care what anyone says about that.

If it is not the player's cheating my rolls, then Roll20 has a problem with the dice rolling. A serious problem if rolling the same rolls six times in a row gives me a 5.

If there wasn't a possibility of rolling the same number 5 times in a row, it WOULDN'T be truly random . I here you though Austin. There have been times when either players can't catch a break on rolls or everything is a success. Rolls happen.
Going back through the game's chat archive, I can point out 24 times where I rolled the same number move than five times in a row. That shouldn't happen, right? I get it, random is random, and maybe this is a cosmic thing where I'm shit out of luck, though it is ruining the campaigns I'm trying play. What type of algorithm does Roll20 use to deterime random. Is it a Hardware generator based on system clock, or a pseudo-random algorithms?

Check that link I gave before, it tells the number of each digit rolled on d20's in the last day on this site (around 200,000 rolls). Gold, thank you for supplying all the right information. Austin, I'm sorry you're frustrated with the outcome of your games. As a GM myself I can sympathize with crazy RNG ruining what was intended to be a cool plot moment. That said, I can assure you that Roll20 dice engine is held to the highest standards when it comes to randomness and fairness. Our rolls are certified, so if you see the little "quantum" symbol to the left of a roll you know it came from us and it's truly random. Your players can't spoof your rolls and the rolls are proven to be random.
