Date: 5th Richfest, 609 CY Attendance: Thruskk, Wulrakas, Clifton, Virgil ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: The battle with the Owlbears leaves the party beaten and battered. Clifton remedies this somewhat by applying his newly-embraced knowledge of medicine, and he's able to heal himself and the others before they decide to trek on. Opting against resting, they proceed west of Valena's Tomb. Here they find a narrow clearing leading to a wall of thorns. The thorns seem to be impassable, initially, and it's impossible to see what's on the other side. Virgil manages to find an entry through the thorns, however, though he and Wulrakas take some damage meandering through it. On the other side, a cave is revealed. The party enters, and in the darkness Thruskk sees that the cave narrows into a three-foot wide chasm. Clifton lights a torch, and a large, quadrupedal shadow is seen on the other side of the chasm. Clifton sends Muesli out to scout ahead; what's revealed is that the shadow is actually a dragon statue that seems capable of movement, mounted by none other than Onuji (the druid once in the employ of Baba Yaga). Perhaps more surprising is the woman seated on a pile of rubble behind him: Ash Reyner, former companion of the group. Beneath her are two zombies, who tear away at skeletal remains. The group presses forward through the chasm. Ash reveals that Reselda is dead; that she sold her out for a boon from the ancient dragon. This boon is implied to be the resurrection of her dead parents, who Ash later reveals to be the two zombies. Thruskk, fighting back rage, tries to worm his way around the statue -- but the statue follows his every move. A battle then takes place, and Ash turns into a spider and crawls up to the top of the cave. Thruskk leaps on to the statue, smashing the head and causing acid to spray out. Whatever mechanism controlling the statue goes haywire and sprays acid at Virgil. Thruskk is then launched from the head when Onuji uses a Thunderwave. Virgil casts a deafening Shatter spell, causing the statue to explode and Onuji to be thrown from its back. Onuji is then killed, along with the two zombies. Ash then reverts to her human form. Thruskk, in his rage, tries to get to her -- but amazingly, the frail Clifton grapples and holds him back. He and Wulrakas both try to prevent Thruskk from killing Ash, but he manages to break away from Clifton, push through Wulrakas and pin Ash by the throat. Eventually Thruskk stops raging and leaves, allowing Ash time to explain herself. She says she knows little of the dragon, who, it's implied, tricked her (by not resurrecting her parents, merely making them zombies). She knows he mentioned someone named "Skaulson." The party leaves the cave, and, much to Thruskk's disappointment, Ash is allowed to live. They return to Marlgrove to find their brand new home is finally finished. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience: Clifton – 1,000 XP (5,950 XP total) Jericho – 0 XP (1,955 XP total) Thruskk – 1,000 XP (5,650 XP total) Wulrakas - 1,000 XP (5,250 XP total) Virgil - 1,000 XP (4,850 XP total) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loot: Onuji's loot -- 30gp (lions), hilt of a Elven Greatsword, strange goggles in the shape of a owl's face, green potion. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plotspiration: Thruskk -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: Between session 14 and 15, an in-game, 2 week downtime will take place. Please refer to the DMG for downtime activities, or ask me about them if you don't have the DMG. If you wish to purchase items, please have them in mind prior to the session. Would prefer if shopping and downtime activities were noted in this thread, to avoid taking up time in next week's session. Heck, you could even write out a paragraph or two pertaining to what your character does during downtime in this thread. (Nobody's gonna do this though, so I guess I'll keep the Plotspiration to myself.)
