The Kingdom of Ormere The Nation The Kingdom of Ormere is ruled by the King Renard Tremere the 9th. The Tremere royal family rules Ormere by holy decree of the Church of Luxanna. The center of government is the city of Ormere , one of the largest in the continent of Agea. Ormere is a port city with a population of around 43 thousand. The second biggest city is Gellion , a trading hub with a population of 8 thousand. The Hamlet of Haven's Glade (Where the PC's are from) lies along the western borders of Ormere. The People Most of Ormere's population work in the vast farmlands of the nation. Other than food imports, Ormere is famous for it's wine, both cheap and fine. Quality Ormeran vintages are a staple among luxury goods. Ormerans are people fond of food and drink, and boast fine culinary history. However, that is not to say that they are not ambitious people. Though relatively peaceful, the western borders sees constant skirmishes and raids from the mountain orc tribes as well as the Agean clans (particularly Wolf). Ormere has a long history of war among its noble houses, in addition to with it's nations. Its southern shores were at one point in history the theatre of a war that lasted most of a century. It culminated with the declaration of house Tremere as the Royal family by holy Decree. Though peace returned to the land, the populace still sees house Tremere as outsiders, as they come from Lunarian stock, and thus, a puppet government. The joining of the Golden Sea League (mutual defense and trade pact) cemented that opinion among some intellectuals. This, in addition for the reluctance of the Lunarians to share their new technological and scientific advancements, or the lack of will to adopt this scientific renaissance (which has given a rise to the middle class in Lunaria), is threatening to cause civil unrest. The Army Ormere has several professional small armies: The Northern Rangers, who protect it's western borders against raiders. They are often undermanned and underfunded. As their only source of funding are donations from nobles. The Ormeran Royal Army, the standing army of Ormere. It is a small army currently at minimal numbers. Late medieval tech. The Royal Guard: They guard the royal palace. Well funded and trained. But small in number (100s) The Royal Navy: The pride of Ormere. The Navy boasts dozens of Ships of the Line and many smaller ships, which protect it's waters as well as interests abroad. Currently, much of the Royal Navy has been converted to civilian duties. Personal Noble Armies: Most nobles and rich knights keep a small personal army. In addition, they are allowed by the crown to levy troops from their fiefs under certain circumstances.
