QUICK READ RECAP: Party encounters a lizard man shaman and his student spell casters who attempt to deceive them into a vulnerable position under the guise of 'private talks', but the wise adventurers see through the ploy and a battle ensues where Oceanus the aquatic elf's life hangs in the balance as a magic staff transforms into a giant 25' boa constrictor, entwining itself around their helpless friend! DM SESSION LOG 150207 Spells memorized. Svava, Bard - audible glamor, magic missile, web Tralann, Mage - sleep, magic missile, web TollenMek, Fighter/Mage - magic missile, protection from evil Svava is picking up lizard man language from her exposure to their talking around her. Svava checks the door by Bjorn and hears nothing, and motions to Bjorn that it appears all clear. TollenMek moves to Bjorn and Svava. Karmadel and Oceanus move to south hall, hear heartbeats and convey that information to the rest of the group, entering the room with four lizard men. The heart beat is not distressed. The lizardman heart beat changes, the older lizard man spell caster teaching two pupils speaks common "Who are you and what are you doing here?", but Karmadel can't hear with the heatbeat spell in effect. Karmadel attempts to explain their purpose anyways, hoping to address the question. The lizard man spell caster says "come with me", but Karmadel can't hear. He reaches as if to take Karmadel by the arm, but he resists. The party hears Karmadel talking very loudly in a nearby room. Bjorn moves toward Karmadel and sees a lizard arm reaching towards Karmadel, asking the lizard man "What's going on?" "How many more of you are there?" "Six possibly seven presently" "How are you aiding the Sahuagin?" "We were under the impression we were going to be fighting the Sahuagin." The lizard man spell caster motions to both adventurers to follow him and moves toward the hallway where Tralann, Tollen Mek and Svava are. Tralaan moves toward the lizard man that walked past him and tries to make a gesture of friendship but angers the creature, speaking in common, the lizard man tries to understand but does not. He motions toward the direction of his superior but stays put and does not follow Tralaan despite his efforts. Tralaan moves toward Karmadel and Bjorn. Svava moves and address the lizard man shaman "hello how are you." being cordial. He responds "I don't know who you are or how you got in here, but you all need to follow me." Svava asks "That depends upon whose orders you're following" He replies "Who I serve is not of your concern, we should discuss this privately" Svava asks in broken lizard man language "Do you serve the chief?" "Who do you serve...speaking our language?" "I serve the oaths of Valhalla" The lizard man shaman does not understand and walks back east away from the party down the hall way. Karmadel hears a change in the heartbeat Svava tumbles in front of the moving shaman and says "Where are you going we were just talking?" The shaman attempts to push the bardess aside but fails a strength check. Karmadel moves over by Svava, calling to Oceanus to follow. TollenMek readies his bow. Tralaan shares with the group the situation of the passing lizard men earlier. Bjorn moves behind the shaman. The shaman moves toward Svava ... "Follow me." "We were sent by the chief to come this way, why do you want us to go back" Svava asks. "Until I hear about this from the chief, we should discuss this matter privately" the Shaman replies. Svava holds up the map with the lizard man chief mark to the shaman. Karmadel notices a change in heart rate being aggresive. Svava guards and delays her action until the end of the round. Oceanus fails at hide in shadows and move silently. Things quickly get out of hand. Shaman throws staff to ground and it changes into a giant 25' magic boa constrictor. The other lizard men blocking the eastern end of the hallway begin chanting. Tralaan fires his sling shot at back of superior shamans head hitting for 4 hp of damage. TollenMek shoots bow at superior shaman for 5 hp of damage. The missed shot arrow flies by Svava with a successful dex check but interrupts one of the lizard men chanting for 2 hp of damage! Bjorn attacks the boa for 11 hp of damage. Svava starts humming for extra damage and attempts to chop off the superior shaman's leg for 3 hp of damage while he sleeps. Svava centers audible glamor at the three chanting lizard man (4 men/level or 16 men volume shouting/roaring lion) disrupting their spells. TollenMek shoots a magic missile at one of the chanting lizard men for 5 hp of damage. Karmadel repeats the staff command word but the snake remains, sliding his sword into the back of the superior shaman's head for 12 hp of damage. Blood spews profusely, making the floor slippery (dex checks required now for all movement in this area). The boa makes a critical attack on Oceanus for 14 hp of damage wrapping around him, causing him to drop his weapon! Bjorn hits the snake for 18 hp of damage, spine destroyed, severe bleeding 1d6*10 hp/round, paralyzing the snake and freeing Oceanus! Tralaan shoots at superior shaman but misses. Lizard men attack Svava for 4 hp of damage and Karmadel for 8 hp. Tralaan shoots at the prone shaman for 7 hp of damage wounding him severely to the point of gurgling blood! Karmadel hits the lizard man in front of him for 8 hp of damage. Svava tumbles backward opening the space for Bjorn. Oceanus imbibs a cure serious wounds potion for 4 hp of health bringing him up to 12. Bjorn hits wounded lizard man for 12 hp of damage killing it instantly. Tralaan shoots sling at prone shaman for 2 hp of damage. Lizard man bites Karmadel for 3 hp of damage. Oceanus attempts to move but fails a dex check and slips in the blood. Tollen Mek fires two arrows at superior shaman attempting to stand up with a critical hit for 19 hp of damage killing him! Karmadel hits a lizard man for 9 hp of damage. Oceanus attempts to stand up but fails a dex check and falls back down in the blood. Svava moves behind the lizard man attacking Karmadel and makes a critical attack for 14 hp of damage. Lizard man claws Bjorn for 1 hp of damage. Snake staff is destroyed. Oceanus stands up in the blood. Tollen Mek shoots at lizard man in front of Bjorn killing it with 2 hp of damage. Firing his second arrow at last creature for 8 hp of damage killing it. Bjorn searches the superior shaman. Svava goes to shaman room and eats an apple to regain some health. Svava enters the rear sleeping room adjoining the shaman teaching room. Tollen Mek reclaims shot arrows. Karmadel searches dead lizard man. Oceanus searches dead lizard man. Bjorn searches last dead lizard man. Party members eat to restore hp. Oceanus finds and removes trap and unlocks chest to find a bolt of green velvet cloth; a leather bag containing 500 ep, an ivory figurine of the lizard men's deity Semuanya, and a small, padded wooden box. Karmadel searches for false bottoms and lids and finds none. Bjorn opens a door to find a living area. Tralaan opens a door to find a sleeping room, opening a chest. Svava moves toward Bjorn, finding a key from underneath the table, giving it to Karmadel in passing. Karmadel opens wood box taken from chest. Bjorn picks up the carafe, cup and incense burner and finds a key hidden under the burner. Tralaan searches for secret doors and finds none. TollenMek searches for secret doors in the hall but finds none. Karmadel and Oceanus search for secret doors in the far western sleeping room and find none. Svava examines the wood carving on the wall of the lizard man god Semuanya. She wants to take the items found to the female den. She examines under the straw mattress on the floor and finds nothing. Svava talks to females through locked door apologizing for earlier actions. Svava opens the door to the vestry where masks are hung on the walls. TollenMek, Karmadel and Oceanus move to a double set of doors but they refuse to push open. Oceanus determines the door lock is not trapped or locked. (200 XP)* Bjorn moves into the vestry and attempts to open the other internal door but it is locked, failing a bend bars roll. Karmadel slides his sword fully upward and downward in the northern temple door that won't open. Karmadel, Oceanus, TollenMek combine their strength and push the door open to reveal a room full of lizard men in a temple area. DEX roll necessary at start of next session.
