Text won't stick

I tried searching for the answer, so apologies in advance if this is covered! I can't seem to make any text stick on any of the layers, particularly the GM layer. I'm wanting to have small references of which page to jump to pending different exits. Every time I type in some text with the draw tool it disappears after. On a Mac - 10.7.4 - Chrome Version 20.0.1132.57 Maybe I'm missing something really simple and dumb :) Thanks in advance. Discovered this two days ago and am VERY VERY SAD I missed out on the kickstarter push!!

I did post something awhile ago, but never got a decent response, but the Text and for me the Pen tool are fickle.

The Text seems to get really small once you click off of it. I start with a large font and as I click to type in another place it grows small to tiny. I've started typing in the margins and then selecting/adjusting size/moving. Which is really annoying. Hope this gets fixed. I'm using Chrome.
