QUICK READ RECAP ( Continued from prior session) Karmadel the priest, Oceanus the rescued aquatic elf and TollenMek the half elf fighter/mage make dexterity checks and manage to remain on their feet after combining their strength to force open an unlocked, but held door, into a massive lizard man temple area filled with activity. In front of them, at the far end of the room, is an older lizard man in a kneeling position, held in place by a lizard man shaman and officer. The party members are instructed to 'wear masks' before entering the area, but in an adjoining vestry room filled with masks, the rest of the group discover and free a human and a dwarf from inside tied sacks, that later aid the adventurers and engage the lizard men in a volatile hostage situation freeing the aged minister from a group of opposing faction members! The minister later explains that it is he that is leader of the lair, and the one responsible for creating the alliance strategy that has caused all the trouble thus far, making him a high value target for the opposition....saved with only moments to spare! DM SESSION LOG 150221 Spells memorized. Svava, Bard - audible glamor, magic missile, web Tralann - sleep, magic missile, web Silas - sleep and shield Karmadel, Tollen Mek and Oceanus make their dex check and not fall to the floor. The lizard men ask 'where are your masks?' Karmadel explains their mission. Tollen Mek explains 'we weren't aware of any masks, lets do that" Svava wakes Bjorn from his sleep and goes to knock on the door. The door opens and two sacks fall inward...both moving. Svava asks in lizard man language 'do we need any masks? Bjorn gives Svava a mask. Tralaan dons a mask and joins Svava near door. Silas opens the man sized sack, there is a human inside bound, with an apple in his mouth. Silas frees the human. Svava 'We're here on official business, with permission papers" Lizard man 'Show me papers" Svava shows papers. Lizard man attempts to grab papers but fails. "if you don't settle down, I'll have to cut you" "Puny female human you cut no one" Svava starts battle chat Aaron removes apple from mouth and takes a bite! Thanks Silas for freedom, 'extra sword possibly?' Aaron is offered and takes sword from Bjorn. Karmadel directs Oceanus to stay behind him. Bjorn hits for 15 killing the lizard man. Tollen Mek fires arrow at lizard man to his left for 2 hp of damage! Second arrow misses. Silas fires two arrows but misses. Tralaan casts sleep affecting 2 lizard men. Karmadel casts fear three lizard men are affected and flee. Lizard man makes a critical attack on Oceanus for 10 hp of damage bringing him to 6 hp of health. Lizard man makes a critical attack on Tollen Mek for 6 hp of damage bringing him to 27 hp of health. Svava frees Balfon Stonefoot the dwarf from the other sack. Oceanus downs a potion of cure serious wounds for 17 hp of health to full health. Svava gives Balfon a sword. Balfon moves to mask room hall door to stop advancing flanking. Tollen Mek shoots an arrow for 7 hp of damage. Bjorn hits one of the lizard men blocking the doorway to the temple for 16 hp killing him. Silas fires an arrow at one of the flanking lizard men for 4 hp of damage. Aaron attacks a lizard man blocking the door for 5 hp of damage Oceanus slits the throat of a sleeping lizard man laying in front of him. Svava casts web on the three lizard men cowering in the corner still affected by the fear spell. Touching the torch, it bursts into flames inflicting 5 hp of damage to all three. Lizard man bites Tollen Mek for 7 hp of damage bringing him to 20 hp of health. Lizard man hits Silas for 5 hp bringing him to 14 hp of health. Bjorn picks up weapon. Oceanus kills another sleeping lizard man. Silas casts sleep on 2 lizard men. Balfon the dwarf kills a lizard man asleep from the spell. Svava hits left arm shield is damaged inflicting minor bleeding for 8 hp of damage. Karmadel kills the lizard man by Tollen Mek for 8 hp of damage. Lizard man makes a critical attack on Svava for 8 hp of damage bringing her to 10 hp of health, hitting her right hand forcing her to drop her weapon. Tralaan makes a critical attack on the lizardman by Aaron for 4 hp of damage. hitting him in the torso knocking him down and stunned for 1 round. Tollen Mek shoots an arrow at a cowering lizard man in the SE corner for 7 hp of damage, Silas backstabs the lizard man attacking Svava for 16 hp of damage killing it instantly! Balfon kills a sleeping lizard man in the hallway. Svava moves back into vestry and attacks with 13 hp of damage killing it! Karmadel hits lizard man for 8 hp of damage killing it instantly! Tollen Mek shoots an arrow for 6 hp of damage on a cowering lizard man in the SW corner. Karmadel hits the shaman for 14 hp of damage. Bjorn hits a lizard man behind him for 15 hp of damage killing it instantly! Svava 'Come with me to safety' to the old lizard man, who is still afraid, but doesn't seem to be resistant. Svava moves him to the vestry. Karmadel hits the shaman in the abdomen major bleeding, 1/2 move, -2 to THACO with 18 hp of damage, disemboweling him in a pool of blood! Svava asks old lizard man 'are you ok?', he replies 'yes, thank you for saving me' 'No problem at all, what happened?', 'moments later I would've been dead, they were in an opposing faction.' 'you follow the chief?' 'yes, they were staging a coup; I am the lair minister, I run this lair, I made the recommendation to form alliances with other species' 'We will find the missing humanoid.' Bjorn kills the last lizard man with 11 hp of damage. Svava surmises the missing humanoid may be wearing a mask similar to the ones in the vestry. Svava introduces herself to the two rescued players. Aaron and Balfon respond. Svava asks lizard man minister of easier way to identify the opposing faction, he responds don't know. Karmadel's sword starts talking, going on about '...you know the right way to have handled this would have been ...' Karmadel talks out loud about his diety is of justice and vengeance and so he did what he he's always done. "next time we find a law book, we both really need to sit down and take a look at it' the sword replies. 'religion schmidgin. the rule of law is something that you need to abide by...just saying' Bjorn searches a body. Silas introduces himself to rescued players and loots a corpse. Svava asks the minister if he could have a mask for later use during story telling, 'yes you may' and picks up here weapon. Karmadel cure light wounds on Svava for 5 hp of health to 25. Oceanus picks up the trident from the altar. Karmadel casts cure light wounds on two players. Party retires to provided room for rest and new spells. Svava performs music for a reputation check. Bjorn starts a fire and cooks the party beans and diced beef.
