Dimensions and Grid.

Okay so I have not been using Roll20 for all to long but I am now attempting to create a campaign that I will use with my friends. The tools on Roll20 are amazing for playing but I have found some minor things that annoy me with setting up the maps and such. I recently bought an item from the marketplace named The Manor and I have been having some issues using it for my campaign. Aligning the grid with the map itself is a complete pain. I read through the 101 tips on how to align your grid with the map but I still feel it's A LOT more trouble than it should be and I can never get it to be exactly right. In my opinion, buying an item from the marketplace should make it simple to use. All of these items already have set dimensions where the grid works and I feel as if the creator/seller of the item should include the map and grid dimensions in the description. I honestly do not see the point of buying things from the marketplace if they are going to create me as much trouble as just using other custom maps/backgrounds that exist out in the open web.

Amar, can you describe your problem? Maybe a screen capture so we can see what is the problem? Aligning the map is a wide question. I have the map loaded in my board and it is a simple drag to expand it to whatever size I want. The ground floor of the manor goes from grass side on the left to the grass side on the right. Are you trying to make the actual floorplan line up with the grid? If you want that you will have to hold the alt key while dragging (windows user here) till you aling the walls. I was able to drag the corner so that it expand in ration till it reached 1212x1212 pix in size. That alinged the walls to the default grid.
I am able to adjust the grid to align with the walls and such now. My only comment is that it should be made easier by giving people the dimension size that should be used AND the grid pixels that should be used so that they can manually set it to be perfect. Alas, it is just a lazy mans request and I know it is doable with a bit of work! :)
Amar, to be honest most of this has to do with the artist themselves. For example if you look at: https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/item/30454/t... You will see that the map details (upper right corner of the marketplace window): 4620x4620 (33x33) This shows the exact configuration of the map that will allow it to align. I know from experience with this particular artist I sited (and I am sure others) that it is pretty much seamless and beautiful, drop the map, set the expected size, setup dynamic lighting (if applicable) and go.

A lot of artists will give you this info on the MarketPlace page for the graphic:
you can hold alt to move it around too and put it where you want (ive ran across where I have the right sizes but the boxes don't line up till I can move it.

Much appreciated. I will take note and save these artists into my memory.

This seems like a good tip to put in whatever materials or instructions goes to the Artists for when they are writing their Descriptions!
