Date: 14th Reaping, 609 CY Attendance: Clifton, Virgil, Wulraka, Jericho ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: Three days pass and the party learns more about Skaulson's Rest . Unfortunately, it seems that the Tower is impregnable. Wulrakas heads from Marlgrove after Krax sends a Sending spell to Clifton; Clifton relays their location to the wizard, and Wulrakas bases his travel off of these directions. Riding atop one of the few horses that Marlgrove owns, he tries to rest at one of the farm houses he comes across. The man is rather racist, however, and Woolie finds himself fleeing frantically as a group of pitchfork and torch-wielding farmers chase him across the Sheldomar Valley. He arrives at the Slumber Marid exhausted. Meanwhile, up in his room (where Jericho decided to stay, free of charge), Clifton hears a knock on the door. He opens it to find an envelope contained a jagged black key inside. On the face of it he can read, in a strange, archaic language: "The Dark Tower." Rather than immediately set out, the group decides to get drunk. After a few rounds of extremely potent liquor, Virgil becomes very intoxicated. Jericho feels a strong buzz and Clifton/Woolie are fine. Tabitha vomits after one shot and excuses herself. Following a long rest the adventurers believe they are ready to breach the tower. Tabitha insists on accompanying them, and Virgil allows her to do so. The jagged key is placed in the lock of the tower, and the doors open. On the first floor, the group discovers a flesh golem bound to a steel chair. The golem holds a book in its hands and flips through it mindlessly. Behind him a wall of crackling electricity blocks their path. Jericho swaps out the book with one of Greze's "questionable imagery" pamphlets, only to find that the book contains a riddle within. Clifton notices a some small writing on the left page, which triggers an explosive rune. Everyone is hurt -- and Tabitha is reduced to a pile of ash. Jericho answers the riddle incorrectly. The golem's bindings sink into the chair and the golem readies itself for battle. Jericho, Woolie and Virgil grapple the golem and throw him into the electric wall. This destroys the wall, but empowers the golem, healing the wounds it received from the explosive rune. Jericho continually wrestles the golem while the others pummel it with attacks and spells. Eventually the golem is destroyed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience: Clifton – 3,000 XP (14,950 XP total) LEVEL UP 6 Jericho – 3,000 XP (8,995 XP total) LEVEL UP 5 Thruskk – 0 XP (9,650 XP total) Wulrakas - 3,000 XP (9,250 XP total) LEVEL UP 5 Virgil - 3,000 XP (14,850 XP total) LEVEL UP 6 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loot: None. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plotspiration: Thruskk -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes:
