I think the strength of roll20 is the fact that it uses a web browser. Player's can literally start playing a game in minutes and GM's can use as much or as little of roll20's features as they want. Most of the "silly browser stuff" I've seen is often people using unsupported browsers (browser's other than Chrome and Firefox) and/or anti-virus, anti-spyware, browser extensions, etc. that interfere with the roll20 editor. Are you having any problems? I'm sure you will get lot's of help. If there is a bug, it's best to get it posted so that the Devs can fix it. Cheers

If "silly browser stuff" means the borders / tabs / menus of your browser, you can hide that stuff and have a full-screen Roll20! (Actually works with any webpage, but especially useful for Roll20'ing). In Google Chrome browser it's called "Presentation Mode" or Full Screen mode. You choose the Chrome Browser option "Enter Presentation Mode" (that's what the button is called on Mac version, may have different wording on Windows or Chromebooks).

F11 is your friend. :-) I would use it more when I play, but I usually have 2 or three other tabs open for game related stuff.

I generally have a second monitor set up with some tabbed reference materials/my campaign text/graphical inventory/API window (for those occasional 'refreshes' to the system ;) ). Then I can put my main screen into presentation mode or full screen and enjoy the borderless fun it provides. Don't have a second monitor? Well shame on you... but seriously, pick up a cheap one, even a CRT will do the trick if you have a severely limited budget =D

Plug in your lcd hd tv (if you have one) to your computer and use it as your main screen while the computer monitor can be the secondary screen.

At this present time due to the way the site/program is coded you won't get a client side that is offline or independent. This is a cloud based (or similar enough to think of it as that) operation.
