Date: 14-15th Reaping, 609 CY Attendance: Clifton, Virgil, Wulrakas, Thruskk "Wizards, When Will They Ever Learn?" - Art by Gyrocoptor ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: After their short rest, the group decides to send Clifton's familiar to scout ahead. Before that happens, however, Clifton manages to dispel the magical darkness that plagues the third story. He then sends Muesli forward; the familiar is attacked by the spectral hands, which miss completely, and so he scurries back to his master's side. Downstairs, Jericho has once again fallen into a narcoleptic slumber. The party then comes to a consensus: the best course of action is to burn down the library. Clifton puts his torch against the nearby bookcase and the party then retreats to the first story. Shortly after, a wraith manifests through the ceiling and attacks. For the third (or fourth?) time, Clifton finds himself in the clutches of death. Meanwhile Virgil twin hastes Wulrakas and Thruskk; the two fighters then utterly destroy the wraith. It leaves behind a cursed crown. They rest fully upstairs, and Wulrakas hears the voice of Tabitha during his watch. Nothing comes of this, however. Jericho continues to sleep the sleep of the dead. They then ascend the staircase, only to find the library in ruins. This reveals a path to the fourth story, which they ascend. Here, they find a bedroom that's plagued by the awful smell of neglected sewage. There's a dead dog and little girl sitting on the couch, as well as a tub of water above a yeti-skin rug. On the eastern wall is a torture device with a corpse, and on the bed sits a zombified woman, blinking stupidily. Clifton retrieves a sample of a small green worm in the tub of water, placing it in an empty inkwell. Meanwhile Thruskk examines the zombified woman and finds that she is being kept alive through substance flowing through tubes attached to her body. Despite his low charisma, the thing is almost entirely blind and not particularly intelligent; she is easily convinced that Thruskk is her creator, Skaulson. Thus, she reveals much about what's going on. For one, the corpse on the torture device IS Skaulson, which thoroughly confuses her. Also, that "a lady in red" was able to breach from the roof and descend into the room, after which she stole Skaulson's book on necromatic rituals. She also reveals that Skaulson tortured himself in order to avoid something catastrophic. Thruskk puts her out of her misery, After examining the room more, Thruskk opens a trap door in the ceiling after pulling on the cloak-rack. The party goes upstairs and finds themselves in a research lab. There's some tubes with specimens in it, a pentagram drawn on the floor, and a giant skull with large rubies in the eye sockets. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience: Clifton – 3,000 XP (20,950 XP total) Jericho – 0 XP (11,995 XP total) Thruskk – 3,000 XP (15,650 XP total) LEVEL UP - 6 Wulrakas - 3,000 XP (16,250 XP total) LEVEL UP - 6 Virgil - 3,000 XP (20,850 XP total) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loot: Cursed crown (Thruskk) Green worm (Clifton) Yeti rug (Thruskk) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plotspiration: Thruskk (will he ever use it?) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes:
