Non-live games?

Hi, I am relatively new to roll20 and I am trying to find out how games are actually be played within this infrastructure. It seems that roll20 prefers live roleplaying; however, I wonder if anyone has ever tried "asynchronous" roleplaying (the actual term doesn't come to my mind right now, sorry) where people don't play live but rather log on every few hours / daily to contribute. Is this even feasible? Thanks in advance, Manny

I run a play by post game here and I think there are a few others.
Myth-Weavers.com does that and does it well.

Yes they do. Myth-Weavers was built to do that while this site is being used for live games. I'm trying to use this site for play by post games and it is working very well. My players are able to move their characters and make their rolls while I can whisper them secrets and they can do the same. All the info needed is posted in the campaign's mini forums or in handout's. Their character sheets have their macro's made out also. I actually like this site a lot for this ability so that with a slight advance warning / working my group and I could schedule a live session if our real life schedules work out properly. You can't do that in Myth-Weavers.

I've actually been a member of Galactic Campaigns   where I've done the majority of my PbP. It's a smaller community but has some exceptional roleplayers.
