Silent Jukebox

For me the Jukebox doesn't play sound. It doesn't matter if I'm GM or player or even what campaign I'm in, the jukebox is totally silent for me. I'm the only one in any of my groups with this issue. I assumed it was some software bug or conflict in my system, but yesterday I formatted my hard-drive and reinstalled my OS. Today I still can't hear the Jukebox. I've seen a couple of similar-sounding issues but none of the fixes for them have worked thus far. It's hardly an end of the world issue I know, but I can't select music for my own campaign.

Hmm. I was one of the ones from the similar-sounding issues you found. Mine and someone else's matching problem was fixed with a really hard delete of cache in Google Chrome. I had to go to a special screen of Chrome and do a certain delete button that was beyond the usual deleting of cache. Hard to imagine needing to do anything with cache if you've literally formatted your harddrive and reinstalled OS! How could a cache live through that? Never, could you try using firefox and see what happens?

Just to get a full baseline, can you follow the troubleshooting steps here: Can you please follow Steps 1-3 of our Solving Technical Issues wiki page, taking special care to temporarily disable all browser add-ons and extensions, temporarily pause your anti-virus, and try switching browsers (for Chrome/Firefox specific issues) to see if one of those components is causing the problem. If all of that fails, please follow Step 4 , including providing all of the necessary information, so that we can further assist you. My first suspicion with the given details is that streams from soundcloud are being blocked since they originate outside the roll20.net domain. This could be a setting that is in your chrome config that has been re-established when you logged into the browser. Trying another browser as Sarah suggested would test this, as would trying in an incognito instance of chrome.

Okay, I've went and used Firefox and incognito Chrome. I systematically disabled all attachments one at a time then all of them together, cleared my cache and then did the same when using Firefox. I had an identical issue, but after the session I disabled all my various playback devices and re-enabled them. This resolved it. I half suspect I had Roll20 playing through something other than my default device, but didn't check fully. I hope this helps!

I don't know what specific song that is in the jukebox to search for it (or if you mean that it should now be playing in my campaign regardless), but music still isn't working.

Just to triple check, you're sure you've got your Master music volume level turned up? On your windows set up you've checked the volume on playback device, made sure the default device is correct, and that in the Volume Mixer it's not muting your browser?

Yes, my master volume is checked and messed with every time I try anything to do with the jukebox. The mixer itself doesn't mute anything else to do with the browser. Even other sounds from roll20 like the chat updating works normally, it just doesn't seem to recognise the Jukebox at all, it's like the jukebox doesnt exist: even if I click the sample player or start playing a track on the jukebox proper (which everyone but me can hear) nothing registers as having sound playing anywhere I can find. When trying it sample the music in the 'Add Sound' subwindow; after I hit play the track will briefly flash 'Loading' and the play button will switch to a pause one, but no sound will play and the line thingy slider that shows your place in the track will not appear, clicking and dragging anywhere on the track treats the soundwaves of the track as an image you are trying to copy.

I am having the exact same problem, master volume is maxed, can hear the mics of my players but no music whatsoever, tried disabling and enabling my audio device with no luck. Edit: I also get all other sounds i.e. chat notifications.

Tom, can you open a separate thread and then follow Steps 1-3 of our Solving Technical Issues wiki page, taking special care to temporarily disable all browser add-ons and extensions, temporarily pause your anti-virus, and try switching browsers (for Chrome/Firefox specific issues) to see if one of those components is causing the problem. If all of that fails, please follow Step 4 , including providing all of the necessary information, so that we can further assist you. That way we can keep your different setups separate while trying to figure out the issue.

Never, can you repeat this step so that you get the 403 (Forbidden) in the browser console? Once you have it: Click one of the sndcdn.com URLs that 403'd. That should bring up the Network tab, with that request highlighted. Click the highlighted row matching the 403'd URL. That should bring up the details pane.
