QUICK READ RECAP After anchoring just east of a nearby land mass, the party disembarks the ship provided by the Saltmarsh council to come ashore, scale the outcropping and set camp atop the plateau, providing a well concealed position from which to lay siege to the sahuagin fortress immediately to the west. After implementing their well thought out plan to fortify their base of operations, the party cautiously approaches their final destination. Karmadel the priest, riding one of his recently befriended whales, swims around the entire island spotting several now submerged entrances on the north and south side of the lowest of the three levels. Under the direction of nominated party leader, Svava the female bard, and with the help of Karmadels whale friends, they quickly assemble their block and tackle to lower and position a large boulder, taken from the stone causeway connecting the island to the mainland, in front of the lower northern entrance, blocking any potential activity from it. The noise of the activity draws the sound of gong banging from within the complex, with the massive double doors opening resulting in the entire party becoming immediately engaged in combat with the initial onslaught of sahuagin guards from within ! DM SESSION LOG 150328 Spells memorized. Svava, Bard - audible glamor, sound bubble, color spray, web Tralann - sleep, magic missile*, invisibility, wall of fog, web Argo - 2x magic missile*, armor, color spray / mirror image, web*, Melf's acid arrow / fireball Party had rested up after the last encounter, all spells are available. Svava discuss group thoughts on how to approach this session. Karmadel suggests they plug the lowest level entrance. Svava recommends casting the reverse of purify water. Tralaan wonders how long should the party stay if the sahuagin should 'hunker down' Aaron considers the possiblity that there may be new entrances/exits that the party should be aware of. Svava recommends establishing a base camp from which to lay seige. Balfon the dwarf asks the lizard men if the sahuagin can fight under water. They reply 'yes' Argos concern needs to know whether they will be fighting on land, but cut off their ability to leave via the submerged lowest level exit by using the block and tackle to place large boulders there. Karmadel casts create camp site. Svava and fans set up ballista. Svava asks the lizard men what are they afraid of what would happen to their old home. Lizard men help build barricades around the west side of the plateau area, ensuring the ballista is not impeded in any way. Oceanus receives 300 caltrops from Karmadel and is instructed to distribute them in a defensive fashion. Tralaan fortifies the SE corner with caltrops. Bjorn and the help build more dirt barricades along the eastern plateau area. Balfon asks the group where to set up traps. Svava suggests holding off and place them around the lair entrances and exits instead. Balfon preps for 10 traps but does not fully complete them for later, last minute use. Argo joins Aaron in guard duty. Party lays traps and caltrops along the eastern grass land toward the sahuagin fortress. Svava leaves fan NPC on the ballista with target priorities like fire on any sahuagin mage should one appear. Party advances toward fortress causeway. Karmadel and Oceanus in the water find a 10' wide opening on the lowest submerged level. Svava looks for large loose stones and sees many along side the causeway. Svava instructs fighters with great strength to use the block and tackle to lift larger boulders, difficult to move without a block and tackle, to move them into place over the lower below entrance. Karmadel notifies party of his findings circling the entire fortress of a 20' opening with a lowered portcullis. Karmadel instructs whales to nudge the lowered boulder into place successfully sealing off the lowest level northern entrance. Argo prepares a web spell and captures 3 sahuagin in the entry guard area. Aaron with the two marines watching the entrance. Sahuagin begins cutting web. Balfon lights Svava arrow and she fires to shoot at web lighting the web on fire. Svava hits a sahuagin guard for 3 hp of damage. Marine moves into foyer and hits sahuagin upper left leg, 1/2 move, major bleeding for 6 hp of damage. Oceanus hits the sahuagin that was attempting to cut the web before it was fired for 8 hp of damage. The other whale attempts to launch Karmadel from the depths into the combat and fails his dex check. Aaron hits a sahuagin for 18 hp of damage killing him instantly. Argo fires off magic missiles and torches a sahuagin for 12 hp of damage killing him instantly. Tralaan fires off a magic missile for 7 hp of damage killing a sahuagin. Svava tumbles behind enemy lines. Balfon hits for 8 hp of damage killing him instantly. Aaron hits sahugain for 12 hp of damage killing him, Karmadel hits for 11 hp of damage killing him. Bjorn hits sahuagin for 12 hp of damage killing it. Aaron hits sahuagin for 8 hp of damage making him upset. Party tackles and ties up a sahuagin.
