Session 47 (06/22/2016): In-Game Date: Pharast 31 to Neth 3 Things Done: The campaign ended with a good epilogue. Epilogue: Right After the War: Some events happened during the next days after the Resistance Army liberated Korvosa. First, the last pockets of devils or Ileosa-allied government forces were eliminated. Also, the Resistance Army has been coordinating with several Churches to continue supplying help to the civilians: food, medical help, burials, etc. Finally, Mistress Kayltanya was killed when the Resistance Army stormed the Heights, and all remaining Red Mantis fled the city. As for the Lucky Bastards, they have been helping in all of this while still recovering from Gromian's death. Tobias went to their first base in Midland and started repairing it, consecrating it in the process. He also took from Castle Korvosa the contract that the Red Mantis had with Ileosa, and planned for someday to take more revenge on the Red Mantis. High Profile Trials: The Lucky Bastards managed to capture some notorious enemies of Korvosa and several trials were held for them. Hookshanks, the ex-henchman of Gaedren who was still causing lots of trouble, was sentenced to prison for life. The necromancer Rolth and her psychotic, serial-killer lover Jolistina were hanged in public and their corpses prepared to prevent resurrection. Lady Andaisin of the cult of Urgathoa was executed in the Church of Pharasma: to the expectations of everyone, Urgathoa did not resurrect her even when Andaisin mockingly assured that her goddess would do so. The right-hand of Ileosa, Sabina Merrin, was swiftly executed as was Lord Glorio Arkona, his decapitated head reverting to its true form of a tiger rakshasa (to the shock and surprise of everyone). Hail Queen Cressida: Another issue that the Resistance Army has been solving is the restoration of a good Korvosan government. They would like to crown a monarch fast so that there is no time for new wars to develop or for neighbor nations to invade Korvosa. Since the Arabasti line didn't leave a heir nor a regent (and many nobles, arbiters, and magistrates proved to be corrupt and sided with Ileosa), several other people were nominated. They were: Neolandus (although he insisted not to be a candidate), Cressida Kroft, Magistrate of Regulations Lolia Perenne, Lady Eliasia Leroung, and Archbanker Darb Tuttle (although he was also reluctant due to his duties to Abadar). Voting was carried out among them and members of different Churches and surviving noble houses. Tobias Steward of the Lucky Bastards also cast a vote. In the end, the voting greatly favored Cressida Kroft as the new monarch of Korvosa, thanks to her great dedication to the people of Korvosa, her virtuous and fair judgments, and her having endured and survived the whole Korvosan Crisis. The actual crowning ceremony would take some time to be done, but with selection of Cressida as queen and the end of the Crisis, the contract between Korvosa and the Lucky Bastards was fulfilled. Founding of Luckhaven: The major reward that the Lucky Bastards negotiated with seneschal Neolandus before the war was the granting of some lands to the north of Korvosa where the Lucky Bastards could establish a new town. The awarded area was big enough to form a town in the fork of the Yondabakari river that leads to Abken, Janderhoff, and Sirathu. However, other things were stipulated. First, the new town of Luckhaven must serve as a trading ground for Korvosans, Varisians, and Shoanti, and as an occasional place of political reunion. Also, Luckhaven won't be entirely independent: while they can make a lot of laws regarding taxes, regulations, and all, for military purposes, it's still part of Korvosa, meaning that they must help Korvosa in conflicts and viceversa. The major of Luckhaven must be present in important reunions in Korvosa. Tobias advocated for a nobility title for the head of Luckhaven. So for the next two months, the Lucky Bastards surveyed it, hired a lot of workers to build the town, and made trade agreements with other towns and villages. Stolya Family Businesses: Aelfrick Stolya went to recover his inheritance, thanks to all the information given by the ghost of his older brother, Aeldruss. He knew that an aunt, called Lady Raina Stolya, faked the will that Aelfrick's father left and put Raina as the inheritor of the Stolya estate (with Aeldruss dead and Aelfrick studying away, she thought that nobody would know). Aelfrick, with the information from his brother, went to the University of Korvosa looking for a copy of the true will, which was hidden here by Aelfrick's father. With the true will, Aelfrick travelled all the way to Cheliax to unmask Lady Raina and also threatened her if she would dare to continue being an impostor. With the inheritance issue resolved, Aelfrick went back to Korvosa to restore the abandoned Stolya manor in South Shore. One day, when he was cleaning some unlooted decorations in a room, he found a secret pathway that lead to a hidden library. There, Aelfrick's father compiled a vast array of books that he found during his travels as part of the Pathfinder Society. They treated a variety of cultural topics but one in particular, title Codex Stolya, contained information on planets and realms beyond Golarion and how to theoretically travel to them. Eight Months After the War: These were the fates of some characters during the next eight months after the Resistance Army liberated Korvosa and the Crisis ended: The shoanti were granted several things for their cooperation in the war. An enclave and embassy for them was built in the area of Old Korvosa. They were also granted a lot of land near the Storval Rise. Finally, Korvosa granted to some Skull Clan shamans the privilege to visit ancient shoanti burial grounds below Korvosa. Vencarlo stayed as a combat trainer, sometimes rendering services to Lucky Bastards recruits. Grau continued the persona of Blackjack, and inspired by Tobias' faith and by the loss of his nephew Charlo (and her niece Brienna's suffering), he worked more for the safety of children in Korvosa. Neolandus stayed as an advisor for the new Queen Cressida, and worked to make sure that the role of monarch is more monitored than before. Also changed a lot of laws. Maidrayne Vox and Tara: They both stayed in Korvosa for a long time to monitor any devil recurrence. Laori: Before returning to Nidal, Laori left a letter for the PCs, giving thanks for all the help they did in recovering Salvator, but also warning that they got in the way of her superiors, the Brotherhood of Bones, by destroying the Crown. Salvator: Laori rescued him and sent him away to Nidal, for initiation in the Brotherhood of Bones. Bakar: became a caravan master between Luckhaven and Korvosa. The Lucky Bastards: They continued building their new town of Luckhaven as another satellite town of Korvosa. Marlow kept working to find more recruits for the Lucky Bastards. Meanwhile, Tobias acted as an ambassador, visiting Kaer Maga and the Cinderlands to establish more agreements among all towns of the region. Aelfrick continued his studies and the reconstruction of his manor in Korvosa. Marz kept working for his Lady Eliasia Leroung. And a statue of Gromian was built in Korvosa, giving homage to the honorable man that sacrificed his life for his fellow citizens, who now continues to fight as a soldier in Iomedae's forces and realm. The End: The campaign ended with a celebration for the inauguration of Theandra's new tavern and restaurant in Luckhaven, in honor of all the children that suffered and perished in Korvosa. Many old friends of the Lucky Bastards came to visit, including Charlo, Brienna, Grau Soladi, Vencarlo, Tibor Steward, Deyanira Mirukova, Ruan Mirukova, Trinia, Laurana, Westby, and even Kiki, who escaped Korvosa during the devil onslaught thanks to Majenko and her magic. Even Cayden Cailean showed to the party, disguised as the middle-aged man with black hair that Tobias saw in a vision. That same night, when Tobias was retiring to his house, the fortunetelling ghost Zellara appeared to ask him to safe-keep the usual-looking ring with the 'Emmah' engraving (which they found at the beginning of the campaign), as it seems to hold a mysterious significance and magic that Zellara thinks could be related to extraplanar things. She will be investigating more of this ring. Mysteries and Loose Ends (some more important than others): 1. Will the Red Mantis or Lorthact's devils return to Korvosa someday? 2. What was that of Laori Vaus returning to Nidal with Salvator? What about their superiors, the so-called Brotherhood of Bones? What did they want with Korvosa, with the Crown of Fangs, or with Kazavon? How the Lucky Bastards interrupted their plans and what repercussions will this have? 3. What is the Codex Stolya that Aelfrick found? What exact information does it contains and what it all means? 4. At the beginning of the campaign, the Lucky Bastards found an usual-looking ring in Gaedren's fishery, which has the following thing engraved “For Emmah—the light in my nights”. Zellara thinks that this has an unknown but seemingly special importance and power. What is it? Awards: Misc: Lands for the Lucky Bastards to build Luckhaven: The government of Korvosa, as a reward for saving the city, offered Tobias Steward and his most-trusted Lucky Bastards some portions of lands near the Yondabakari river, to build another satellite town called Luckhaven, which would serve as a trading center for all towns in the area including Kaer Maga and the Cinderlands. Stolya Manor for Aelfrick: With proof of his right to inherit the Stolya Estate, Aelfrick Stolya is now the owner of a manor in South Shore, which he has begun to repair after more than 2 years of neglect.
