The party arrive at their destination: A Japanese research facility in the Korean mountains. Yuri explains that this facility has been drawing large amounts of power, and they must find out what the Empire are doing. Yuri sends Véný and Mari to clear a side room while the others keep watch in the corridor. The room turns out to be a locker room, and the pair encounter a couple of Imperial guardswomen in a state of undress. The guards draw their katana and attack Mari, wounding her slightly, but the two are able to overcome and neutralise the guards. The party salvage various armour parts from the locker room, and Yuri encourages the party to collect any swords they find to be analysed by the Kingdom. The party come across a group of guards relaxing. Mari approaches them to talk her way through, but before it can go badly, Véný throws in a sleeping gas grenade. Any unaffected guards are easy enough for the party to dispatch, and the party move on. The party arrive at a freight elevator. They activate it to go down to the next level, but whilst the elevator is moving, ninja drop down from the shadows! Ivan promptly sends one ninja flying off the elevator with some frightening CQC skills, and jumps down to finish her off. The ninja are fast, but any solid hits affect them terribly, and the party soon deal with them. The corridor leading from the base of the elevator had been damaged; a large chunk of metal pierced through the walls. The party were able to squeeze past one at a time, but on the other side come face-to-face with a Russian woman in Japanese uniform. They overhear her mutter to herself about a man who managed to sneak past the guards just before. The party confront her interrogate her further, but she gives up no more information and is killed by the party. The woman had been struggling with an electronic lock, which Andris is able to jury rig to open the door. A large bulkhead stands before the party, but the lock requires a keycard. The party search the surrounding rooms for it. Apart from two fights, the party also encounter a sleeping guard, whom Ivan pickpockets sneakily before snapping her neck, and a group of unarmed scientists, whom Yuri considers as witnesses who must be eliminated. Andris, the only party member with him at the time, argues it would be better to leave them alive as prisoners, but Yuri is not keen to take risks. Andris finally acquiesces, but not without leading him to question the quality of Yuri's leadership. Four keycard parts were found in the surrounding rooms which, when combined, are able to open the bulkhead. On the other side is a freight elevator littered with bodies of guards, each killed with a single shot to the head. The bodies continue as the party move to a large underground hangar lined with combat-armed mecha. Here they witness a Japanese man executing a researcher. The man is initially confused, thinking "Those fools at the Imperial Palace" might have already caught up to him. However, he soon notices the party's Russian uniforms and relaxes. At this point Véný takes a shot, but the man, having spotted the sniper earlier, is able to dodge the bullet. Yuri demands the man explain what is going on, to which the man responds by pointing his revolver at Yuri and shooting him right between the eyes.
