I'm a player and i can see the map without any fog of war? My brother is the gm and i can see his computer and fog of war is clearly on, the other players cant see through the fog of war
Maxwell, go to http://supportdetails.com/ and post what it gives you (except for the IP address). Can you get a screenshot of the map at the time of the bug? If your GM would take a screenshot at the same time that would be appreciated. Finally, while the bug is occurring check your console log and post any errors it shows. - Gauss
Crazy thought: You said you were seeing your brothers computer, so are you sharing a WiFi connection or so? Could that have messed up something on Roll20's side, since both goes to the same IP?
Same issue here. Three laptops and two tablets in the same room connected to the same wifi. On my laptop, fog of war was fine. On my android tablet (same player/campaign/account) I could see the entire map.
Fog of war was broken for me last Sunday. I had done some prep for my game Saturday and I could see the fog of war was in place. When we loaded to the map that Sunday with all of the players two of them saw the fog of war and three of them saw everything. I also as the gm could not see the fog of war. I verified it was still turned on for the map. I had to remove it from areas as we progressed even though I could not see the fog of war and tools behaved like fog of war was not turned on at all (I did not see the selection rectangle). All of my payers were at their respective residences.
Would be interesting to know if the players that saw everything where using one Browser and those where it worked used another, or if it was mixed. Could you check with your players?
For everyone having Fog of War issues we really need some additional information from those players who can see through the Fog of War. 1) If you are using Roll20 native or in Google+ Hangouts. 2) Is your GM using Fog of War alone or with Dynamic Lighting? 3) http://supportdetails.com/ (without IP address) 4) A copy of the console log. To access the console log via Chrome Ctrl+Shift+J. For Firefox Ctrl+Shift+K 5) A screenshot. Never know what information that may provide. 6) Finally, any other information such as: Did it work before and it stopped working for that particular player? Did refreshing help? Did rebooting the computer help? Have you tried deactivating your Extensions and Plugins? Also, the GM might want to try to Promote you to GM and then Demote you. That appears to have fixed it for one person. - Gauss
1: We used Hangout´s and roll20. 2: No, just FOW. 3: ? 4: Eh, what? 5: 6: No to the first, refreshing did not help and we did not try the others. However, I am right now chatting with one of the same players over skype and now the FOW is working. We tried with the hangouts as well and the FOW is still working.
ArcCain, thank you for responding. I am slightly confused, are you the one that is having the difficulty or are players of yours having the difficulty? 3) If you go to the link provided you will get some support information we need. Please provide that information except for your IP address. 4) Depending on the browser you are using you can access your Console. The console has a log that can be used to troubleshoot. For Firefox the console can be accessed by hitting Ctrl+Shift+K. For Chrome the console can be accessed by hitting Ctrl+Shift+J. - Gauss
ArcCain, I need your players to come post. They need to be the ones to provide the information. Also, could you send me a join link so I can come take a look. Thanks - Gauss
Same here. Wife can see FOW through native and GH, but my brother cannot, he see's straight through. I told him to PM Gauss, but if there's a fix let me know. Gotta game coming up on Thursday and this is definitely going to break it. Thanks!
Danolaijn, at this time we still need anyone having this issue to post answers to the questions I posted here: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/181863/fog-of-war-broken#post-188591 - Gauss
For all users having this problem, we have a couple of other ideas and questions to try to pin this down: 7) Please try a different browser and let us know if the other browser is also causing problems. Example: if using Chrome switch to Firefox. If using Firefox, switch to Chrome. 8) Try rebooting your computer when this occurs. 9) We could use your computer's specs. Specifically, the graphics card and age of computer. And we still need answers to the questions I posted here: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/181863/fog-of-war-broken#post-188591 - Gauss
Sorry I did not reply until now. I logged in to do some game prep yesterday and I (as the GM) was able to see the FOW gray areas once again. Same browser, but I was in the campaign natively rather than through a hangout. I have another session coming up this weekend, and if we have the same issue (we will be picking up on the same map) I will first try the troubleshooting methods indicated above and then have the players post here with specs if the problem persists. Thanks Gauss and everyone else in this thread for contributing.
