I'll see how this method of awarding XP works out in the longer run but the XP gain curve feels *about* right, if perhaps a little high, despite a relatively modest amount of combat. I do think it may go partway towards reducing 5e's "all about that combat" feel. I've already rolled for random encounters (they are less common in the area immediately around Ophir anyway), so you can safely make it back to Zonay, thousands of copper ridiculously in tow.
Apprentice tier is meant to go by in a blink anyway. It'll slow down on its own as we continue. At 3rd level, I'll have Fast Hands and Second-Story Work. This means I can do some sleight of hand, disarm a trap or open a lock, or Use an Object as a bonus action. It also means I can jump farther and can climb without a penalty to speed. I'll need to get my knee is proper working order though before I do much climbing.

Coin Gains! Copper : 1800+1600 Silver : 80 Gold+ 4+2+1 (+2gp Leftover. Going to the church?) So gains of pure coin this session are: 3400CP 80SP and 7GP each. Poe will take the hematite if no one else wants it, he just thinks it looks pretty.
Since I won't be here for Fridays session I think I might post what I'm doing while the gang is all about doing whatever they're doing. For the moment though let's say that Hollis has informed Chuck that he has business to attend to and that he would catch up with him shortly. That way I have an excuse for rediscovering y'all the following week.
Sounds good to me. Luckily we were at a nice break point, but yeah, possibly not the next week, even though it's ideal. My sense is that the group is desiring to head back into the Towers dungeon, is that about right? I can work with that---there is still "stuff" in there, but if there's a plan to go in a radically different direction it's helpful for me to see and know that, so I can get out in front of seeing what added prep would be helpful. There's also a plan to talk with the reeve of Zonay, which is fine too, of course. That will pretty naturally lead further down the path of that hook too. :) I'm personally interested to see what happens when the group makes the attempt to go farther afield, but I take TH's comments to heart that the rules have somewhat discouraged that--and level 1-2 adventurers should probably be sticking close to safe areas anyway, yes?
I'll be there on Friday. I think we ended with us heading back to Zonay so we can pick up there. Chuck advises burying our treasure just outside of town rather than go in loaded down with coin. If the reeve has something interesting for us to do, we can do that or we can continue our crusade against the necromancer and hobgoblins. At some point later when we're in Ophir, Chuck will want to steal that map off Muta's desk.

Hey, fella's I cannot commit to a regular game no longer. Kids now have sports on weekends. Sorry for the stuff around I hope you all have fun. Feel free to use Garlel as an NPC or hand the reigns over as a pregen
ah, pesky kids and their hobbies! :p i take it there was no game this past friday?
We did a two-hour session with Chuck, Kriv, and Poe. We met with the reeve of Zonay, negotiated a deal to look into the issue of the sour cheese, and lured the mysterious Kolong to our hut with a bowl of perfume. Then we made a deal with Kolong to stop souring the milk in exchange for daily bowls of perfume. It was unwise to take the fight to the necromancer and hobgoblins when down other players including a healer so the past session basically set us up with a side quest and possible sideline.
(it's about Final's week right now and I'm overwhelmed with work and havne't had time to write up any RP during the down time but it sounds like not a lot happened anyhow. but I chose Pact of the Tome and took Thaumaturgy, Guidance and Viscious Mockery. I'm curious if my Awakened Mind could be used in combination with Viscious Mockery so that it could be cast without the enemy hearing me.)
