Instructions: This is a miscellaneous thread for free-form RPing. There will be different scenes that occurred in the game (or related to it) and so you will have a chance to develop your character and explore more by talking with NPCs, etc. The events and things done in these scenes are considered to have happened in the game. Do not start new vignettes without discussing with GM first. When replying, post a reference to the vignette (number and/or title) at the beginning of your reply. Participation in these vignettes might be awarded with replenished Conviction points, XP, or special gear. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Vignette 1: Reunion with Cressida The remaining members of the Lucky Bastards are in an audience with Cressida, after the meeting with Captain Alarion was brought to a halt by a deluge of rioting civilians lead by rabble-rousers, creating a chaos ghastly decorated with fire, smoke, lighting, screams, and blood. The purpose of the meeting is to negotiate a contract that will give authorization to the Lucky Bastard mercenaries to operate in the city as special operatives for the Korvosan Guard. The office where Cressida is sitting is made of light brown bricks adorned with hanging tapestries of solid crimson and black colors, representing the colors of Korvosa. Other tapestries of lighter colors hang as well. There are no windows in the room and only small slits in the wall -- about 6 inches high by 1 feet wide -- provide ventilation and natural light, if only the current hour was during the day. Yet some hooded lamps provide illumination to the room from the walls where they are hanged and away from several flammable objects. Crates upon crates with papers and an assortment of other items are stacked in the corners, and several trunks and shelves also house the products of bureaucracy. There are two desks and one table, all made of solid red oak. Cressida is behind the largest desk and behind her is a map of Korvosa and another of the Inner sea. Cressida has removed the chest piece of her red breastplate but is still wearing the rest of her armor. She stops reviewing some papers after Grau tells her that the Lucky Bastards are coming. Then she starts pouring fresh water from a silver pitcher and into green-tinted glasses. "Welcome. Please take a seat and have this water. You must be as tired as I am". She rests her arms on the desk, ready to conduct business.
"I thank you for your hospitality Lady Commander." "As you know my company has been decimated by the events in the Bloodsworn Vale. As such we have lost all standing at home in Nirmathas and have been unable to maintain upkeep in our facilities, as such they have been confiscated. We must now call your fair city of Korvosa home. Those of us left are truly Lucky Bastards if I may be so crude, and are talented and motivated rebuild our proud tradition. Our guiding tenet is our Code given to us by Cayden Cailean's Sargent we do not switch sides mid-contract, we do not pillage in our employers country, we might do so in enemy lands but only with your express permission. Under no circumstance do we instigate mutiny against an employer and any contract is null if the cause is suicidal." "As the ranking junior officer I have been elected to the Captaincy of the company, it is my hope to establish a charter here in Korvosa. As such I would like to have permission to establish a small barracks in the city for the duration of our contract with option to extend our stay if amicable to both parties at the end of our contract with the City Guard. I would like the privilege to recruit members from the city's citizens and to bring in the remnant of our members left in our compound in Nirmathas. If we prove ourselves worthy we would like the option to build a full compound under the blessing of Korvosa north west of the city on the Jeggame River. I know that I am asking for much but I plan for the long term; whisky needs to be aged, ale needs to ferment and so will we under my watch and in your employ." "This is where I stand Lady Commander, what do you need of me and my Company to make this happen?"
