Help with Custom Char-Sheet Creation

Ok I've taken the 3.5e sheet out of Github to look over it and see how it works, but when it loads into the preview, rather than doing any math it just displays the value script thing "value="(10+@{armorclassbonus}+@{armorclassshieldbonus}+@{size}+@{armorclassnaturalarmor}+@{armorclassdeflectionmod}+@{armorclassmiscmod})"" for example is literally displayed in it's number box. Are previews of character sheets not fully possible or am I doing something wrong?

Previews give you more of an idea on how it looks rather than how it works. The formulas are not calculated in the preview, probably because I suspect it cannot access the information from other fields/would not know what the values are.

Hello Vis V, I'm going to move this to a more appropiate forum so more eyes will read this and respond.
Thanks Pat. So Diana, is there a way to test and see if the formulas work without having to load the entire campaign each time?
No simple way, I don't think. There is a few programs that can emulate the Roll20...engine? I that the right word? If you have the right program, and if you know how to install the framework, the files are listed in this thread . I don't know enough to even play with the material, but others might. Its the only option I am aware of that will allow the testing of math without loading the campaign. Another option I sometimes use is load the campaign in another tab. Once I make the changes in the Roll20 editor, I save the changes and reload the campaign. Its still slow, just not as slow.

Sorry Vis, I don't know of any particularly good ways to test formulas either. I tend to open the campaign details page and the campaign itself on separate tabs in my browser and refresh (as John said) when I'm working on the 3.5 sheet. I actually use Notepad++ to do the programming in so there's a lot of copy/paste going on. I also use Excel/a Google Spreadsheet to verify the math of formulas when I need to but, of course, then I have to substitute variables and occasionally operation names (ie floor vs FLOOR.MATH) and then change them back when I'm ready to use the formula. (Also I've found a few things that didn't quite translate across as I expected; 1E10 did not always resolve out to 10000000000 in Roll20 but I have no idea why. Fortunately that was an easy fix once I figured out what was going wrong. :) ) I also spend a fair bit of time just playing with values using the character sheet itself to *try* to make sure that I have all the edge cases caught. Though I've been known to miss them before. :/ If there's any specific formula on the 3.5 sheet you are interested in, let me know and I can try to explain what I did there. :)
