Token Sizing (app vs actual sizes)

When adding tokens it would be great if I could extend the token image outside the bounds of the token. For example... I have a player token with a spear held sideways. In order to fit him into the same 1x1 cell his image needs to be shrunk considerably. The result is he looks tiny (dwarf-like) when standing beside other 1x1 tokens. I'd love to be able to extend the image beyond the size of the token and thus maintain a standard human size across tokens regardless of how they're standing and what they're wielding. This would also make it possible to use imperfectly sized images as tokens without stretching. Any thoughts?
I've run into issues like this, too. I think I've either just let them take up multiple tiles and decide which one they're actually standing on for gameplay purposes, or let them get squashed to fit on one tile. There might be a way to turn off grid snapping so you can resize to look right, though you'll still have the token bounds not quite the right size, I expect.
You can right click on the token and under Advanced select "is drawing" that will allow you to adjust the images without it snapping to the grid. The token actions still work, but you won't get the bubbles. You can also set it as drawing, adjust it then set it back and then you will get your bubbles.
During gameplay I just don't use the grid squares, I turn it off once I have the encounter set up and sized properly. Course I am not a stickler for exact distance or line of sight. My players are comfortable using the ruler while waiting for their turn so they know where they can move and how far the enemy is. This does allow me to resize the tokens to look right and since the grid is turned off there is no chance the tokens will snap to grid and resize.

Hold down the Option or Alt key, while you drag the token handles to scale it (resize it on the tabletop). This will temporarily ignore the grid. Once your Token is resized (so that the player-token's body is mostly 1 square, but the long spear protrudes into another square or 2, and you are happy with the proportions), stop holding ALT/Option. When you move the token now, it will Snap To Grid like normal, but part of the Token will appear to be outside the square that the token actually snapped to. In other words the graphics may extend into 2 or more squares, but the feet will still be planted in 1 square: whichever square you want to move them to. I just tested to make sure, and it works. The token I used to test was, in Roll20 searched for "long spear" and used the token titled By Eryiedes - www.dundjinni.com The nearest Wiki Docs page for this is, https://wiki.roll20.net/Manipulating_Graphics The other methods from Ed and Garrett would work, in different ways, but I think that the ALT key scaling is a good solution for Patrick's question.
Hi all, thanks for the suggestions. I was aware of the ALT-key resizing, but token then remains 1.5 units in size and grid snaps on the top-left corner rather than the 1x1 space surrounding the feet. Also the health bar become larger to match the size of the unit. It makes it seem like my spear wielder is some kind of boss relative the the rest of the party. I observed other health-bar irregularities when squeezing dog graphics. When rotated the health bar sits across the centre of the body rather than occupying the usual space at the top of the cell. The isDrawing setting seems to give me the same results as using the ALT key after I switch it back :( I also tried cutting up the image into a 1x1 cropped token and extending spear, then grouping them together; however the grouping was ignored when saving as the character's default token in the journal. You either get the spear or an armless warrior :) It seems my choices are: - Larger health bar than usual and always hold ALT when positioning - Accept than my spear guy is pint sized (also never use non-square images)
