And yet, they are. Read through this: <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/QuantumRoll" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/QuantumRoll</a>

Ziechael said: Like real dice sometimes the same numbers come up, more often on lesser sided die. It is more noticeable online where the previous rolls are still staring you in the face, mocking you... whereas on a table you have likely used the same die several times and while some patterns will stand out the overriding nature of the human brain is to focus on the now and not dwell on the immediate past... Ziechael made a great point on this same sort of topic in another thread. Roll20 is way way way random enough... (I just got my 10,000 roll achievment, they all didn't feel random, but they were.)

In addition to what Stephen quoted me as saying (nice to get noticed!), i'll add this too. It depends on the die used, a sorcerer in my campaign rolls d4's to determine the damage of his magic missiles and regularly rolls 1's, in fact i'd go so far as to say 80% of the time. But he is notorious for poor rolls and we just put it down to a curse of some description by a disgruntled gypsy woman... Where-as I, the all powerful GM, once spent an entire evening rolling nothing higher than a 6 on a d20 for my monsters attacks... it was not a good night and i truly wondered at the 'random' element myself. However all rolling is just probability and since each side has an equal change of being chosen (even more so than real life where dice can be damaged/weighted to effect their outcome...) i just had to shrug and call it a bad night. If truly in doubt, head to a test campaign and type /r 999d20 (or whatever die you were using). Strap in and wait for the results, if they are 80% ones then i'd say the gypsy woman has cursed you also ;)
I usually have bad luck with my rolls. However, this past Saturday night, I was rolling 20s on my ability checks left and right, including a double-crit Arcana check, with no 1 on any of my d20 rolls. So just know that every 1 you roll now is a 20 you'll roll later :P

Dracoknight, As GenKitty suggested we're very confident that our dice are as random as possible. For proof you can visit the Quantum Tracker . If you believe there is an anomaly in your game we'd be happy to look into it if you're able to create a repeatable test case. Happy rolling, - Steve K
