i had en issue with the defences not recognising the highest stat, it could really messup my whole play , i noticed it when i inputed the inteligence stat and the wisdom stat if it helps

This is a common mistake, and the sheet really could stand to be clearer. If you go to settings tab of the character sheet, you can set which stat each defense uses (as well as initiative).

The 4e sheet doesn't presume to use max(Ability1, Ability2) for any given defense, because there are means to alter what ability is used for a given defense through feats, class features, etc. The sheet author instead opted to give the user the means to directly specify which ability is used for each defense.
