After healing the party's wounds, Arthas begins to attack the massive Nahyndrian grinder. He has only fired a few arrows into it when the chamber's western doors open and a cohort of incubus guards pours in. Arthas, Elaryan, and Arueshalae begin the dirty work of killing incubi. The battle is going well when, suddenly, enemy reinforcements arrive. A cambion alchemist named Mutasafen flies into the room, flanked by gibrileth assistant. The gibrileth uses its stinking cloud power to confuse the companions while Mustafen rains down fire bombs from the sky. The potent elixirs deal massive damage. First Hubris then Arthas falls, as Elaryan is forced into Mythic Ape form to defend himself. As Elaryan finishes the last of the incubi, Arueshalae manages to bring down the gibrileth, leaving Mutasafen alone. The cambion switches to frost bombs, aware that the succubus is immune to fire. Arueshalae fights bravely, but is outmatched. Eventually she, too, falls, leaving Elaryan alone with the flying alchemist. In a moment of desperation, the massive ape grabs the body of the dead gibrileth and heaves it overhead at Mutasafen. It is a direct hit, knocking the cambion back into the Worldwound rift! As they enter the rift, the demons disappear. Before the cambrion can return, Elaryan rummages grabs Arthas's wand of cure light wounds and revives his companions. The heroes wait a few minutes, but there is no sign of their foe. So they decide to explore. In the Mignight Fane's other rooms they discover more infernal machinery, which they destroy. Eventually, they come across a bed chamber with a large armoire. Within the armoire they discover a desiccated husk. Arueshalae identifies this as a lilitu husk. Lilitu demons collect bodies and wear them in the same way a humanoid might collect clothing-- their husks grant them abilities, including a type of immortality, and the ability to take their victims' form. Based on this information, and their experience earlier, the heroes realize that this is the body of Yaniel, the human champion lost so long ago. They are not sure how to revive her, so instead they give the husk to Arueshalae to bring back to the Knights of the Pale. Among the alchemical supplies at the fane, the heroes also discover a single Nahyndrian elixir. Elaryan hands it to Arthas for safe keeping, and a great weakness suddenly overcome him. It turns out that one of the conditions that Birgitte set on her profane gift was that he bring her any of the mythic elixirs that he found. The sorcerer, seeking a mor enlightened path, has decided to defy his undead mistress. Finally, the party discovers a small prison. A cell there holds two prisoners. The first is Aron Galakir, the dwarven sniper that lead the party to Drezen Keep, but was himself captured in the Hellmouth. The second is Eovan, whom the party has not seen since he was slain by babau in the Ivory Sanctum. The party frees them both, then returns to the chamber with the rift. After much planning and discussion, everyone but Arueshalae steps into the rift. They find themselves transported to a large cavern encrusted with a tangle of razor-sharp purple crystals, each of which shimmers with a soft, nauseating glow. The rift is visible from this side, filling the western all of the cavern. Neither Mutasafen nor the gibrileth body are anywhere to be seen. Arthas brings forth his page from the Lexicon of Paradox, and thrusts it into the energy of the rift.. Everyone who played gains 3,000 XP. Furthermore, destroying the Nahyndrian Refinery is a mythic trial.
