Inline text color changes

Hello every one. My question is about changing the colors of text inside of chat. I want to make single words, or groups of words a different color. The inspiration comes from many J-RPG video games, and from the webcomic Cucumber Quest, where the name of an item, place, person, or object are written in a different color if they're important or if they can be interacted with. I really like how it makes certain details pop out, and that really improves readability, which is important if you suddenly realized you missed something the first time it was written and need to read the chat log to find the info you're looking for.

I did some searches of this forum, but I couldn't find an answer to my question. I found that there are SOME markdown functions that Roll20 allows, like italics, and bold. It also allows links and images, but I didn't see anything that supports a basic text color change.

You can't do colors in chat directly other than the basic formatting and emotes and such. With the API (a Mentor Level Perk), you can get scripts that can add all sorts of colorful output to the chat.
well dang, that nixes that. Thanks for the quick reply!

It's also possible to add colors using custom roll templates, but you'd be limited on how you're able to phrase things (you can't just randomly throw colors in the middle of an arbitrary sentence). Also, custom roll templates require a character sheet, and while anyone can theoretically submit a community sheet to the git repository, it's rather difficult to test a sheet without being a Mentor.
I don't know why the currently selected color isn't the default for the player by now? This should be a standard feature for everyone! For chat and everything else! Come on Roll20 let's make this happen already!

Vote on a suggestion to add something like what I use for PowerCards to determine color brightness and change the dice text color accordingly. :D

You can have all the colors you like by upgrading your GM to Mentor level subscription and utilizing ColorNote and powercards :>
No it's time to give the color to the people! Mentor's get all the perks this should be a feature that everyone gets! It's small and doesn't impact game play at all.
Oh and yes i won't let it go! This is one of my pet peeves with roll20!

That would make a fine Suggestion for the Suggestions and Ideas forum. Be sure to post the link to it in General On-Topic where it can get the most exposure.

I believe the OP's question has been sufficiently answered at this point.
