Different Modes (Create, Story, Battle)

I find myself needing to turn health bars & effects on and off during and after battles, and I sometimes feel like I have too many options for creating things and not enough for managing them. I think we should be able to set different modes for different parts of the game. Turn on health bars & macros during fights & events, but take them away once we don't need them, or it could lessen the immersion in the game. I also wouldn't mind getting new tools for player management, and implementing modes might be the best way to reduce UI clutter while increasing our toolset.
Instead of creating a whole new mode, there could be a single "hover over" button on a token that turns off all health bars and whatnot. As for macros, it be interesting to have the GM have the power to deactivate all/certain macros, but players can remove them from the bar as well. I'm not sure how useful that be in my campaigns as the "turn off health", but that one would be very nice.
I was thinking more along the lines of trying to provide an experience similar to JRPG's like FF and Pokemon wherein you have a clear "travel" mode and another clear "battle" mode. I'd like to be able to provide my players (and myself) with a streamlined interface so that the gameplay and experience becomes the biggest thing that we notice and roll20 itself as a tool takes a backseat to gameplay during the session.
