Help with walls?

Hello, I'm brand-new to roll20 and have fiddled about a little bit making a map to get the hang of the tools. Before I get too into it though, I can't seem to make walls. I've looked through some of the help videos and forum posts, and it seems the fog of war/dynamic lighting is sort of the only way to do this? Basically, what I want is this: to be able to make my whole map, and since there don't seem to be tiles that block off people from moving/seeing, have a way to make it so they can't see a room in the map until they're actually in it. I also want to make it so they can only walk through spots I've designated as openings/doors (i.e. have the walls on the map, which I've made elsewhere and dropped into the grid, work as actual walls). Between the dynamic lighting/fog of war settings (and any other magical settings I have yet to discover), will I be able to do this? Thanks :) Kayleen

As a Base level account, you are restricted to only using the Fog of War. This will let you black out the map so your players can't see, and reveal areas you wish them to see. If you upgrade to be a Supporter subscriber, you can make use of Dynamic Lighting. This will let you set up light-blocking walls and set light radii on tokens. Your players will be able to see the light emitted by the tokens (presuming the tokens are set to permit this), and what they can see will automatically change as the token moves. You can also set the DL walls to prevent your players from moving through them.
Yes, the only way to prevent players from seeing through a 'wall' is to enable and setup Dynamic Lighting, or to obscure the areas with Fog of War. The easier of the two by far is Fog of War, though Dynamic Lighting is more presentable, visually. Generally I obscure the entire map in Fog of War except for the spot where they start out. I reveal areas as they come to them. With the Dynamic Lighting, there's an option to prevent movement through objects drawn on the DL layer; the "Restrict Movement" checkbox.
