Ideas From A Brief Playtest

Although I am not running our weekly session until the weekend, my players wanted to try out the system last night (and I did as well), and so we did a series of 'duels' between players, as well as a single-character session for a couple of hours. From that, we made the following list of feature ideas and potential fixes. (For clarity, we are using the Pathfinder system with level 6 characters) - In the initiative window, it seems that every single object I add to the table defaults to getting a turn; this includes furniture and everything. Perhaps a better solution would be to have objects (tokens) default to NOT having a turn, and then the GM has to turn it on specifically for characters and NPCs. - I actually don't mind that tokens all snap to the grid, but it would be helpful if the feature could be turned off for background images (since some backgrounds have grids, they don't always line up when snapped). - A pop-out chat window, or at least the option to have it separate from the other tabs, would be fantastic. While GMing I switched between the tabs so often, and it was somewhat of a hassle to not be able to multitask between importing a new NPC and talking to players. - The ability to auto-order the initiative window, while not a big deal, would make combat that much more streamlined. - The option to make certain tokens/objects temporarily visible/invisible to players. I think my players might have more comments, so if/when I get those I will update this post. By the way, thanks to Riley & Co for coming up with and creating such a fantastic tool! My group is never going back to the hodgepodge of programs and paper that we used before yesterday.
Just noticed other comments w.r.t. making things visible/invisible. So scratch that off my list!
I actually don't mind that tokens all snap to the grid, but it would be helpful if the feature could be turned off for background images (since some backgrounds have grids, they don't always line up when snapped). Press 'alt' when moving/scaling objects to make them ignore the grid snap. It's not documented anywhere yet, but it should work as you want it to.
Eureka! Thanks - that's good to know.
Mike, any tokens on the tokens layer will be given an initiative. Try putting table and chairs on the map layer to avoid them having combat turns. Thanks for all your other suggestions, your feedback is indeed valued.
For Mac users that's the Option key. Great tip!
Legit about adding to the map layer. I didn't think of it since the character layer is called "objects". Maybe that wording could be changed? Seems like a tiny thing, but there's really no reason to stick chairs and tables on that layer.
Another thing I've been asked to mention is to somewhere show a list of who is logged in, so that both players and the GM know who is currently in the session.
Another thing I've been asked to mention is to somewhere show a list of who is logged in, so that both players and the GM know who is currently in the session. Agreed. This would be super useful. Especially if someone is having mic and video problems. A pop-out chat window, or at least the option to have it separate from the other tabs, would be fantastic. While GMing I switched between the tabs so often, and it was somewhat of a hassle to not be able to multitask between importing a new NPC and talking to players. Agreed. A pop out, or omni present chat would be awesome.

Just another bit of info regarding this: each token has a checkbox in its settings that determines if it shows up in the turn tracker, something like 'Takes a Turn'. If you want an item to sometimes be on the turn tracker, you can just check or uncheck this button.
