Macro bar - make it two, or even three, lines deep

Hello! In there interest of speeding up our D&D games, our group has taken to making macros for every skill and power, which far exceeds the default length of the macro bar. It's nice that it scrolls and all, so we can put them all there; but it'd be even nicer if the macro bar could be multiple lines, so it could all fit cleanly there without scrolling. Anyone else agree, or have a work-around until this feature gets implemented? Great system! Thanks a ton!
I agree. For those with many macros, a dynamic number of macro lines would be great.
Agreed. Also, if there are multiple lines of macros, could be good to make the font size smaller, or customizable, for trying to save screen space.
What about being able to upload tiny images to take the place of the text in the macro buttons, as well as giving them hot keys. Imagine a sword or some weapon to represent attacks, an explosion or something to represent a spell. I think if they would implement this, we would see people creating different symbols and hosting them in the market place
Jeremy K. said, What about being able to upload tiny images to take the place of the text in the macro buttons, as well as giving them hot keys. (. . .) That sounds good to me.
+1 to Jeremy's idea - how about a list of predefined images for weapons OR taking the hotkey idea a bit farther where we can number or letter our macros and hold down a key (like alt) to see alternate text / a pop up or slightly longer description.
Another good idea, digitalcassete!
I very much agree.
I would much rather have some sort of menu/folder to navigate for the macros as opposed to images
If there would be images for macros, I'd keep it optional. Even if there are images, text should accompany them at the same time, or the icons alone would be too cryptic for the users knowing exactly what are each one of them.
The users would set the macro with whatever image they wanted, it wouldn't really be predefined
yah sorry, when I said predefined I meant they could use a list of predefined images - for instance a bow, a dagger, a sword, a hammer, an axe, for basic melee, if that doesn't make sense then so be it. Someone could even setup a list of images in the market for this.
digitalcassete said, yah sorry, when I said predefined I meant they could use a list of predefined images (. . .) I got what you meant. I'm only adding that basic text accompanying these visual macro-buttons would be necessary, because it's too easy to forget what these small buttons or icons are actually representing --especially if you have a long list of them in your screen! Also, this explanative text linked to macro hot keys -- buttons could be visible by means of mouseover, but the drawback with this is the necessity of actively checking all them, one by one.
Since each macro is created by the player using them I don't think it would be that easy to forget, especially if your using them over and over. If there was an overwhelming amount of macros I could see it, but I have only like 10 and half of those are emotes. I could see if you wanted to create a macro for every possible action your character could take, but I would just hot key those or type them in manually. Too much clutter on the map gets kinda annoying. But the mouse over text description would be beneficial
I could use multiple rows as a gm and player as macros speed up game play.
Too many and you'll really start to clutter up the map, It's better to keep the macros you use most often in the row of buttons and just hot key or type the others in, but that's just me
I was thinking in setting macros for characters having, for instance, twenty skills, the ones listed in the character sheet -and that wouldn't be all the character can do, far of it. In other words, these macros are currently the most functional thing closer to a character sheet for player characters in Roll20. Hence my support to the idea of adding more rows and perhaps allowing a smaller font size for not eating the display. But now that I think about this, and after reading your comments, how about this: in the same way there is a Roll20 Dice Roller window for managing dice in a dedicated and non-standard way, there could be implemented an analog Macros window for easily accessing to all your macros, without space limitations nor concerns about cluttering the user interface.
