For weeks, Nor has been a prisoner at the Forked Pyre. After disrupting the magic circle in the battle against Xanthir Vang, the halfling and his companions found themselves teleported to Duke Furcas's realm. They were quickly captured by infernal agents, separated, and incarcerated. Since that time, Nor has been left alone. It's hard to tell exactly how much time has passed, for their is no day or night in Avernus. Some quality of the prison prevents hunger and thirst, and Nor finds himself unable to sleep or cast spells. He passes the hours meditating upon the nature of Daimu. He has been doing so for hundreds of hours when the cell dorr finally opens. Duke Furcas's lieutenant, the Deimavigga, stands in the doorway. Armored in the ceremonial garb of some grim knight, this figure stands unnaturally still, though the intricate metalwork patterns of its sculpted mantle writhe and shift as if alive. Claws the length of longswords extend from its armored fingers in razor-sharp fans, and no head or helm rests upon its ironclad shoulders. Instead, there hovers only a plain mask, an unnatural facade devoid of all empathy, emotion, or mercy. "His Grace will see you now," the Deimavigga intones. The devil leads Nor down a broad hallway lined with doors. Occassionally, it stops at a door and opens it, releasing another prisoner. The first cell contains Lor, the second Xhotl and Flumph. The third cell opened contains Malak Freed! Malak has been a prisoner at the Forked Pyre for much longer than Nor. Although his body has suffered under Hell's unspeakable torments, his spirit is unbroken. The half-dragon is suspicious of Lor's new form at first, but joins the party nonetheless. Together with the Deimavigga, they proceed to Duke Furcas's throne room. The Infernal Duke is displeased. Malak has failed to be a faithful servant, and Nor has failed to secure the Forge of Corruption . Meanwhile, the forces of Chaos grow stronger, as Baphomet and Deskari seek to form an alliance with Noctiula. Furcas explains that he is willing to give the heroes a second chance. If they bring the Forge to him, he will release Xor's soul. Failing that, they should at least try to disrupt the Midnight Alliance, for both mankind and devilkind will suffer if the balance is tipped too far towards Chaos. The Deimavigga returns their possessions and, with a wave of his scythe, Furcas sens the companions back to their own plane. Meanwhile, Arthas and Elaryan have begun the ritual to close the Worldwound rift. However, just as he is thrusting the page from the Lexicon of Pardox into the rift, Arthas is overcome by a seizure. He falls to the ground, helpless. At that moment, Malak and Nor emerge from the rift. After a happy reunion, the party decides to continue the ritual. Nor grabs the page and thrusts it back into the rift. As the ritual continues, the party is attacked by bebileths and a powerful nalfeshnee. A mighty battle ensues, in which both Nor and Malak are subjected to a feeblemind effect, and Elaryan is slain. Worse of all, at the height of the battle the dwarf Aron reveals himself (herself) to be Birgitte. She steals the Nahyndrianelixir from Artahs's helpless form, consumes it, and teleports away. Even feebleminded, Nor remains focused on the task at hand. As the rest of the party keeps the demons occupied, he holds the page in the elemental energies of the Worldwound. After a full minute, the rift's energies go dark. Lor casts dispel magic , and the Worldwound is closed forever. An immense burst of energy issues forth, destroying the rift's nalfeshnee guardian, and bathing the party in mythic light. Exhausted, but triumphant, the heroes rest in the Abyssal cavern. Everyone who played gains 20,000 XP. Everyone in the cavern gains the equivalent of three mythic trials from the energies released.
