once upon a time I suggested an alternate way of rolling stats for a pathfinder campaign and I'm pretty fond of it.  Step one, everyone rolls 4d6 drop the lowest, six times for their stats.  then they calculate how many points would be needed to pointbuy that array.  Then everyone uses the point total of player that rolled highest and everyone point buys.  A little more powerful, on average, than most pointbuys, and also benefits from not having one player who rolled all sixes or something.
