D&D 4e

New to D&D 4e and was wondering what i need bookwise to start playing and know the rules, i have no interest in DM'ing
Players Handbook :-) If you want to go deep, there's Players Handbook 2 and 3 too, but these are not necessary, but they're made for a reason. Everything isn't covered in the first. Then again, with the first you will be perfectly capable of playing with the first only. After all, at first there was only the first one :-)
thanks anything else that you think i will need or that will cover it
The Dungeons masters guide can give you some helpful insight from the DM's perspective. It also makes you a better player (knowing your world AND knowing how your character interacts with it helps a lot.) Naturally the Monster Manual would also help in that perspective. Everything else is just modular extra content to add more fluff&stuff to your games. Have fun!
A cheaper option may be to go with Essentials Rules Compendium + DDI Insider for a month or two while you figure out if 4e is really your thing or not.  This would give you all the rules (base mechanics) and all the character options for as long as you decide to keep a DDI subscription. If monthly subs aren't your thing, the other Essentials books lays out the classes and power.    If your are new to the ruleset and D&D in general, I would start there.
