Setting up my character

Hey everyone, and thank you for the invite! I'm looking forward to this quite a bit!!! A couple of questions, I guess mainly for Jack: Is my character coming in at level 1, or should I boost him up to something else? I have posted my general backstory in the application; would you like to alter anything from it before i expand on it more? I should be able to have it done tomorrow night or Friday night at the latest. I see the factions you have set out already, any problem with my fighter going with The Order of the Gauntlet? I know its not really for fighters, but being a soldier background, its what would really fit in here. Anything special I should know about the world in general before I create my character? How do you want ability scores rolled? Sorry for the wall of questions, but being thorough early on can help i think. Thanks again!!! Harbek (Dave)

Gonna answer to the best of my ability and let Jack correct me or fill in any blanks I might leave. 1. Bring him up to level 3 unless Jack says otherwise. That is our current level as a party 2. I think what you have is fine. Nothing wrong with fine tuning it or tweaking it after the fact as necessary 3. I can't think of any reason why not. 4 We might all die :P 5 We did roll scores, but use the point buy system on page 13(I think) of the Player's Handbook. As far as gear and gold go, you get the gold and gear giving to you by your class and background, but dont get the starting gold that you roll for, plus anything extra Jack gives you to keep us even with us. I think that should cover everything. Again, I could be wrong, but that will cover most of the bases.

Start at level 3, 900 XP The backstory seems to work okay as it is. There's no reason a fighter can't be a member of The Order of the Gauntlet, so long as (s)he holds up to their ideals. The world is Forgotten Realms. Just make sure it matches up to the world's cannon for the most part. Use the standard array or the point buy method. Also, use the standard gear package. The party hasn't really received much in the way of magical gear at this point, so it wouldn't be fair to start you with anything. Also, I'll need your email or Obsidian Portal name. You'll want to post your character there. We'll also need your Skype name so we can add you to the group conversation and calls.

Oh, right. One more thing - you'll need to hook me up with a token for you to use.

Then here is my pitch: My name is Harbek Holderhek. I served in the infantry for too long during the last war. Tired of seeing all the injustice and tyranny, I have embarked on a journey to set right to the many wrongs in the world, and hoping to find some like minded individuals to share in my forthcoming glory. I have a very protective instinct and tend to shield others from harm by placing myself in the path instead. Because of all that I have seen in battle, I have no fear anymore. I trust that those who fight with me will do what is right and protect me when needed as I will do everything I can to protect them. Because of my successes on the battlefield, and from seeing so many young and inexperienced soldiers die, I tend to think I am always right and will rarely if ever admit otherwise. My initial buy in will be as follows: Racial mod Final Modifier Str 15 +2 17 +3 Dex 10 10 0 Con 14 +2 16 +3 Int 10 10 0 Wis 13 13 +1 Cha 10 10 0 I'm in the process now of setting up my character on the website.

Welcome to the group! Also, cool pic. May I suggest adding how you became a member of the Order of the Gauntlet? Factions have already played a role in the game... a little bit anyway. I won't be @ the game on Sat & hate to miss but it's my only time thus far. I'll talk to you the following week. Again, welcome!

Harbek was asked to be a part of the Order of the Gauntlet by his father who was also a member before his passing. The Holdenhek name goes back many generations within the order. All of them have been exceptional soldiers and it has come to be expected of them to follow in their father's footsteps. Harbek's one wish for this is that He can help to create a more peaceful world so that his son may choose his own fate if he so wished instead of feeling like there was no other way. Harbek does not resent his father for forcing him into the service any more. At one point he did, but after seeing the good he can be in the world, he has begun to relish his past.
