Rework: The Paladin I'm reworking the paladin to better fit with the campaign I'm running in relation to the Dark Knight class SO without further ado, here's the class rework: "In the light, there is peace. But through peace there must be justice. By the forceful hand, justice shall be done and Tethys will shed anew to the darkness that unfolds upon the world. The light embraces all, and sees all. For I am the will of righteousness and sword of peace." The Paladin , also known as the Knight of Light , is an incarnation of a warrior of light that has been blessed by the spirits. Faithful to Tethys, Paladins were created to protect the happiness of others and establish order within Uladh. One of the famous Paladins was known as Gilford the Legend. In Tara, several warriors strive and train to become Paladins, however these are not "True" Paladins and are simply regular knights following the Paladin's oath. Some Humans and Paladins, however, lost faith in Tethys and became Dark Knights. The Paladins are also described in the Book of Paladin . In the light of the first war against the darkness that fell upon Tara, the first and true Paladin was born. Gilford was a simple warrior who honored the church of Tethys and her practice in following the light. Among the elite known as The Cross, Gilford was among the many other warriors called to battle against the children of the god, or Tuatha De Deus. In a losing and critical battle on the fields outside of Tara, Gilford, the last surviving member of the cross prayed deeply to Tethys and offered his undying devotion to the light in order to slay the darkness that is the enemy army. By her will she granted Gilford immense power in the light, smiting his enemies one by one. Soon after, victory followed and Gilford met a roar of cheers from the army. With the enemy defeated, Gilford was honored as a legend. Throughout the rest of his life, he taught his followers in the ways of the Paladin and the light, honoring Tethys. To this day, Paladins roam every city that harbors a church dedicated to Tethys. Though most of them aren't true paladins, they continue to train to one day hope to become one. Playing as a Paladin Paladins are the noble knights among the people of Uladh. Often seen as keepers of justice and guardians of peace, Paladins are accepted in all corners of the world. However, with the rise of Dark Knights following suit and a majority of these Paladins not being "true" Paladins, Dark Knights pose a very real and growing threat to Paladins everywhere. Often, Paladins break away from groups in order to spread the word of Tethys to those in need of the light. Some break off and become Grey Knights, knights who follow suit to personal needs and deeds but still honor the teachings of the Light. Once a Paladin achieves "True" Paladin status, they may choose to lead with their group or wonder the world in an effort to purify what he/she may come across. Class Stats Paladins receive the same stats as stated in the Expert Rules. Characters who wish to be Paladins can do so starting at level one and have a way of training in the light. At level 3+, a character may become a true Paladin if: The GM deems the character worthy and ready in the Goddess' eyes and be of Lawful Good alignment. Once the Paladin reaches this status, he/she can transform into a Paladin form, granting a light empowered weapon(s) and a temporary set of Paladin Armor once per day. Paladin Armor: +10 bonus Weapon Transformation: +3 holy damage per every 3 levels The transformation fades away after 1 1/2 minutes or 6 combat rounds from the amount of empowered light given to the Paladin. After this, the effects of the transformation are removed and the paladin returns to his/her normal state. Paladin Abilities Unlike Dark Knights, Paladins can use Divine spells while both in transformation and out of it. Paladins can also use some abilities given while transformed. Active Abilities   Spirit of Order: What allows the Paladin to transform. This will have its own section below. Passive Abilities   Power of Order:  With help from the Goddess, become a Paladin with immense strength and unshakable will. +1 to Physical and STR per every 3 levels.  Eye of Order: Become a Paladin with immense dexterity and outstanding balance, with help from a Spirit Weapon. +1 to DEX per every 3 levels. When hit, after damage is applied, heal for 2 HP.  Paladin Mana Deflector: The true power of Paladin stems from utilizing the armor that protects his/her body with the aid of nature's innate power. Paladins take 25% (rounded down) less damage from magic attacks. Then, after damage is applied, 25% of the damage subtracted is instead healed (rounded down). Can select an adjacent ally to receive healing. Spirit of Order Spirit of Order is what gives the ability of transformation for Paladins. At the start of level 3, Paladins can become true Paladins and obtain the Spirit of Order. Each Paladin, like Dark Knights, go through ranks in power: Level 3: Paladin Level 6: White Knight Level 9: Holy Knight Level 12: Champion of the Light Each 3rd level, as marked in the Paladin's abilities, increase in power until level 12. Spirit of Order has no mana cost to use but can only use this ability once per day. Paladin's can choose, once reaching lvl 6, 1 passive ability per 6 levels (up to 2 at a time) to have persist even while not in Paladin form. Death Death to Paladins is a means of being one with the light and act differently than Dark Knights. Paladins, when they die, are resurrected with 50% of both total Mana and HP, given a second chance in life. Upon death, Spirit of Order transforms into Soul of Retribution. Soul of Retribution Soul of Retribution works in all aspects as the same as the Spirit of Order. However, the Paladin's soul will only survive for 3 months before he/she is called upon the heavens with Tethys. Soul of Retribution grants the Paladin +5 to all stats and +3 to all skills. Also, any healing a Paladin does or receives is increase by 100%. Any dark/evil attacks that hit the paladin are reduced by 50%. That damage reduced is then either reflected back at the enemy or healed to an adjacent target. If no ally is within range, the damage is always reflected back. Paladins with Soul of Retribution gain the ability Holy Light. Holy Light Target an ally who has not been dead for more than 2 minutes and resurrect them with the power of your light. Costing 50% of the Paladin's total HP and Mana, resurrect the targeted ally with that of your cost in HP and Mana. This ability can be used as long as the Paladin has BOTH the Mana and HP to use this ability.
