These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged! Born to a wealthy family on Alderaan during the Clone Wars, Mikal Rahl proved to be a frequent visitor to the Jedi Praxeum on Alderaan. There, he befriended a young girl named Anda Mavis, a youngling waiting to achieve Padawan status. Mikal would often help Anda sneak out of the Academy, much to the dismay of the Knights in charge of the Temple. This would, however, prove to be a life-changing decision as Order 66 lead to the deaths of all known Jedi at the Temple. Mikal and Anda, both on a mountainous excursion, watched the destruction from miles away. Mikal’s parents, Joren and Maya, took Anda in as a house servant; they held close ties with the Jedi as their oldest son and Mikal’s older brother, Jipp, died as a Jedi Knight in service to the Republic in the war. Anda continued her training as best as possible under the watchful eyes of House Rahl. Viceroy Bail Organa was notified of the young Jedi’s existence; with his combined efforts, the Rahls managed to scrounge and hoard as much Jedi knowledge as possible. The meagre bit that escaped Imperial clutches was enough to help Anda grow as a Jedi; Mikal watched, fascinated, as Anda grew as a Jedi, and as a woman. Mikal and Anda grew closer over time, Anda’s constant training and Mikal’s schooling serving as a source of competition for the two. Mikal graduated at the same time that Anda managed to complete her basic lightsaber training (to the best of her knowledge), thus obtaining Padawan status. After achieving this level, she began to show Mikal the rudimentary basics of using the Force after discovering he was a Force Sensitive as his Jedi brother had been. Mikal had a natural ability for manipulating the Force but without any proper guidance he was unable to manifest this natural skill as Jedi-like abilities. He did manage to learn to use the Force to harden his body to pain, a fact that made him the perfect sparring partner for Anda. Mikal and Anda married a few years later and had a son named Koda Rahl. In 5 BBY, Imperial forces raided House Rahl’s properties, seizing control of them and their occupants. Specialists tested every member of the House for Force sensitivity, finally reaching Anda and Koda. The lieutenant was shocked, to say the least, when the detector went off and that the hand holding the Force detector had gone missing. Mikal quickly lopped off the head of lieutenant as well and struck a Jedi fighting stance, as he had watched Anda do a thousand times. He’d been hiding Anda’s lightsaber, as the Imperial raid caught the two of them in a sparring session. With little time to prepare, he assumed he would be the least likely person to be searched. Now, ice blue lightsaber ignited in his hand, Mikal had labeled himself a Jedi, thus absolving all suspicion from Anda and Koda. The fight for House Rahl was brief but ugly. A squad of stormtroopers battled for control of Mikal’s home with the various servants and security personnel loyal to House Rahl. Mikal’s mother and father were killed in the process. Mikal, lightsaber held high for all to see, fled the compound to draw Imperial forces away from his home, his wife, and his son. Anda and Koda managed to escape the complex. Mikal met them at a secret hangar bay, miles away from the Rahl home. They fled from Alderaan to find refuge. Mikal has either made himself available to the Rebellion or joined the Rebellion, according to the discretion of the GM. He would have done this by notifying Bail Organa. 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game. Mikal wants to make the galaxy safe for his wife and son to exist as both Jedi and as his family. He doesn’t know how but feels he can find a way. I would like to see Mikal discover how the Imperials ‘randomly’ knew to search his home, family, and friends for Jedi. This could be a traitor, a slip-up, or even just a demonstration of Imperial power that got lucky. I think it would be amazing for Mikal to have to sacrifice his life in a big way at some point. He will always look for a way out of every situation but I would like to see him backed into an impossible situation where he can truly demonstrate his devotion to his family. If he DOES die, I could always play his wife, his long-lost brother, his friend Dash, or one of his former House servants. 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises! These secrets may be PM'ed to me. PMed to GM. 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you. Anda Rahl A woman with a strong opinion and a quick temper, Anda is a 25-year-old human female. She has blue eyes and brown hair that she often has to sweep out of her eyes. She is married to Mikal and cares for him deeply. She is skilled with a lightsaber but has found more of a calling in the use of the Force and frequently demonstrates this by telekinetically smacking Mikal in the back of the head for his bad jokes and dry humor. She is stubborn and quick to act in times of crisis. Koda Rahl A young Human boy of two, Koda demonstrates a keen understanding of the world unlike most children his age. He has started training in the ways of the Force but is often under the watchful eye of his mother so the boy doesn’t juggle blocks in midair in front of someone. He has his mother’s eyes and his father’s strong features. He is mischievous and often hides from his parents. Dash Thorne An overweight Human man with long blonde hair and a smile permanently plastered on his round face, Dash is Mikal’s childhood friend and one of the few people outside of House Rahl who knows of Anda’s status as a Jedi. He went to the Imperial Academy on Alderaan to train as an officer, and graduated with full honors. He now serves as a flight controller in the Imperial Navy; he showed his loyalty and love for his friends during Mikal’s desperate escape from Alderaan, diverting Imperial TIE fighter patrols away from his fleeing shuttle long enough for the ship to make the jump into hyperspace. Despite being demoted to a lowly maintenance engineer for his failure, Dash often swears he would do it again, a thousand times over. Mook Foodoo A Devaronian male with a bad temper, Mook is a bounty hunter with a personal vendetta against Mikal. He and Mikal went to the academy on Alderaan together, quickly becoming rivals as Mook tended to pick fights with other students. Mikal discovered that Mook was stealing ships and selling them on the black market; Mikal reported him to the authorities, landing the young Devaronian two years in a correctional facility, which he broke out of. Mook took a career as a bounty hunter, often hunting down Rebel soldiers and spies. Though not very skilled, Mook is a brutal and efficient thug; he prefers to kill his opponent than to capture him. He was one of the first bounty hunters to find Mikal after he fled Alderaan and has been on his trail ever since Mikal’s narrow escape. 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor. Feel free to supply one as what your character was doing before he ended up with the party. Mikal has a tendency to use credits, logic, and his ‘charming personality’ whenever possible. His bad jokes are a trademark of the Rahl family; they are merely his way of coping with the impossible situation he faces. Caf (coffee) is an Achilles’ heel for Mikal. While helping to manage his family’s wealth on Alderaan, he invested heavily in the caf industry after discovering his personal love for sampling the thousands of varieties of caf throughout the galaxy. Though this may seem odd to those who know him, Mikal often swears that food is the one language the galaxy shares in common and that caf is merely one of its many dialects. “Caf can start a conversation, sooth a temper, negotiate relations, invigorate a worn-out soldier, serve as a vessel for poison, and even cause minor burns to a very annoying Imperial officer I will not name (sorry Dash),” he says. “Blast me if I don’t mind learning all about it AND the money behind it” (New goal achieved: open the first Star Wars Starbucks, a financial front for the Rebellion that serves as an open meeting place for agents of all shapes and sizes.) Those who have the greatest capacity to love also have the greatest capacity to hate. His parents’ deaths, and the threat to his wife and son, often drive Mikal to an edge he never thought to go to. He is quick to pledge his loyalty to an ideal or a person. Should harm come to this ideal or person, he will commit acts no other would to prevent any further harm or to exact vengeance on those who deserve punishment. Though his genuine love for others tends to stop him from crossing the line from the light into the dark, Mikal often finds himself stepping closer and closer as his situation worsens… If this character seems a bit silly at some points, those points can be changed. I’m not trying to build a silly character or comedy relief at all; I just feel that Mikal should be an optimistic character who truly believes that everything will be alright in the end. His quirks and mannerisms are just outlets for him. The real character lies in his ability to handle stressful situations and to push through any challenge for his friends and family, no matter the cost. He is a chaotic good character.
