Part 1: http://www.twitch.tv/dm4hire/v/11117104 Part 2: http://www.twitch.tv/dm4hire/v/11138684 Twitch.tv keeps each broadcast for one week only, so be sure to stay up-to-date while it is still available, and be sure to click the heart icon under the twitch screen to 'follow' the group and be alerted of each new session. Brief portions of these weekly sessions can also be found on Youtube with the same date code. FROM THE DESK OF THE DM Let's try and have spell casters calculate their character's total available points and per spell cost figured out by next week, so that way we'll be ready to go for the next spell acquisition period. QUICK READ RECAP The party discovers a stable with four half-orcs and despite the conversation, a battle ensues, with more attempting to enter from the outside door, quick thinking dialog convinces the reinforcements that things are under control and they leave for the moment, which is immediately followed by applause coming from a possible escaped slave child in the hay loft, wishing to join the group and get revenge is denied as he attempts to gain access to the defeat creatures short swords, his subsequent behavior in attempting to lead individual party members to various slaver areas in the temple, and raw gut feelings, prompt the party to fight and destroy the creature as it changes back and forth between different personages alerting the adventurers to the presence of a deadly doppleganger! Shenjo rolls a barrel into the sticky tentacle monster room and opens it releasing the liquid contents which smell like vinegar. Balfon enters the stable. 4 humans are seated on sacks with short swords stuck into the sacks. Balfon feels that they are not human. One asks "Who are you?" "who are you" balfon replies. "We are your worst nightmare, little man!" they reply "I've got a taste for dwarf, what says you?" "Yes, tasty!" they say amongst themselves. Serandon enters the stable and lets loose an arrow at point blank range, right between the eyes causing the encounter to fall backward onto the sacks, killing it with 11 hp of damage. The second arrow on the second closest target for 7 hp of damage. Karmadel hits the furthest humanoid for 6 hp of damage. Balfon attacks the second humanoid with a critical hit for 14 hp of damage killing him instantly! Aaron jumps up on the pile of stacks next to the third humanoid and comes down on top of him with his sword for 8 hp of damage killing it! Karmadel hits the humanoid for 11 hp of damage killing the last encounter. Someone from the loft starts clapping "Nicely done." A tattered and torn clothed human child, possibly an escaped slave. "You guys have made my job of getting out of here a whole lot easier" the person in the loft says to the party, "I thought they'd never leave." Balfon intercepts the person from attempting to procure one of the short swords stuck in one of the sacks near the deceased encounters. Karmadel's sword says, "Now, now, lets hear what the person has to say" The door behind Karmadel starts to move. Karmadel asks the sword 'What's behind the door?" The sword replies "More of the same" Karmadel is able to keep the door from opening by making his strength check. Voices from the outside door call out "What's wrong? " Karmadel tries to impersonate the rough voices "Nothing I fell." Karmadel makes his charisma check. "It's time to let the horses out" is the reply. Karmadel shoos party members out of the general location. The guy that jumped down off the loft is anxious "Give me a weapon, give me a weapon...quick!" The party refuses. Karmadel says "Horses just went to sleep, we'll let them out in a few hours." "We'll be back in a little bit." They hear footsteps walking away. Party examines corpses and finds them to be orcish. The alleged escaped child slave says, "I am indebted to you all, and I will repay your kindness" Party asks "What is your name?" "My name is Theon, and I am at your service" Party points him toward the way out, the entrance they had entered, warning him of the spike trap that has been re-set. Balfon checks the corpses. Dogs start to growl at the slave that approaches Kyra, but is unable to be found. A clerical figure approaches the party and talks to Argo. "Mr. magic user I know where the slavers are located. Come with me quickly" Tralaan asks "Can you give us directions?" "How can we be sure that slavers won't be waiting for us?" "Do I look like a slaver?" "How is it you are in such great conditioni?" Shenjo asks. "I don't know anything of the upstairs. I am talking about downstairs." Kyra makes a wisdom check of 1 and has a bad gut feeling about the cleric figure. The clerical figure starts to feel intimidation by the party moving closer and exclaims his displeasure with their actions. The clerical figure attempts to push past Shenjo but fails an opposing strength check. Shenjo hits the cleric for 10 hp of damage. Suddenly it is a small child crying "Please don't hit me mister" Shenjo hits for 8 hp of damage and the child appears to be a clerical figure. Disclaiming "What right do you have to assault the clergy in this manner?" Leaxle shoots his blow gun for 3 hp of damage directly in the back killing it ! Karmadel's sword asks if he is trying to get frisky with him up in the hay loft. Serandon hears orc talking from the northern hallway and returns to the party to inform them of his findings. Leaxle goes up the north hallway and attempts to hide in shadow but fails with a roll of 99%. Tralaan asks Serandon how many orcs there may be down the northern hallway. "More than two", Serandon replies. Bjorn examines a room of junk. Party descends stairs. Karmadel initiates detect evil but senses nothing. Balfon attempts to move through a tunnel but it is too small. He moves to Argo and explains the possibiliy of his cat being able to pass through the small tunnel. Argo is hesitant to send the familiar down the tunnel. Party uses the wand of polymorph on Balfon to voluntarily change into a cat. Argo sees if the cat will help, setting it down, but it climbs back up. Party lump sum XP with all aspects considered (including but not limited to) session survival, skill usage, role-playing, alignment checks, etc: 2900 Karmadel, Priest/Bjorn/Balfon (Christopher S.): 290/290/290 Argo Mage/Leaxle/Serandon (Paul W.): 290/290/290 Tralann (Shalvenay K) Elf, Half: 290 Kell/Aaron (Robert D.) Human: 290/290 Shenjo (Craig F.) Gray Elf: 290 SESSION LENGTH : 6 Hours
Wow! I'm surprised that the causality rating wasn't higher, those doppelgängers can be deadly.
Figuratively dodged a bullet on that one. I keep wondering if there are more shapeshifters or other 'can get small but later big' monsters in those twisty tunnels below. Moderately nasty burrowing 'things' are also a concern. Unless we are highly pressed, I vote to NOT polymorph Balfon just yet and see what we can find ( * coughs * loot ) from the main floors first.
but if we polymorph Balfon is to a dainty elf, he'll fit through... :p
only if he skips and sings tra-la-la, instead of just walking.
If you all need to square the spell points thing away, PLEASE do so here, too much game time is being gobbled up with discussions that can take place here in the forum, between sessions.

@DM: oh yeah I can just see that happening NOT! @Robert: Yeah checking for loot before you proceed is always a good idea who know you might just find a potion of dimunation. In which case. The mighty dwarf could easily slip thru those narrow twisty little passages. Fear the umber hulks! LOL
I think everyone has the SP squared away. which is good.
