Sunday , Aug.16th 2015 George A. - Feng, Half-orc Barbarian Dick H. - Latch, Warforged Bard Heinrich V. - Malec, Human Wizard (Preserver) Mahewa T. - Strom , Human Cleric (Air) general campaign background intro, logistics, character introductions Feng - originally based out of Maruk Dar, raged out over a spilled cup of coffee one too many times and was told by his tribe to take a walk and get his shit together. it uses the rage only in battle or it gets the hose again. has been travelling between Rotting Blade and Blood Crescent trying to figure out the rest of song that's stuck in his head. currently in posession of 2 pages of musical notes, missing the lyrics , beginning and end. has been moonlighting as Latch's drummer/roadie when no other jobs are available. Latch - started as a C-3PO style diplomat warforged until he screwed the pooch during negotiations and almost got his boss killed. landed in Rotting Blade and after watching a bard at a local bar decided that the rockstar life looked sweet. has been modding himself to retool/retrain more towards being a bard. eats coal and combustibles instead of regular people grub. Malec - hermit background, has a hawk pet. talks to his pet. a lot. damage based mage. ex-girlfriend drama with a vapire, he ditched her for the hawk and has been on the run from her ever since. set up shop in Rotting Blade running a magic shop under the name Celam and went breaking bad turning purple moss found around Kashakant into speed/uppers. sideffects include being able to see into the spirit world and purple lips/nose. Strom - originally from Athas, now that he's on a continent/world that doesn't try to murder its inhabitants 24/7 his focus is on making sure it stays habitable and taking care of the people that live in it. Distrusts mages by default because of their bad reputation as defilers, but isn't going to go thunderdome without a good reason. starting location continent - Demon Wastes , city - Rotting Blade character introduction montage all the characters have been in or around Rotting Blade for about a month. Feng has been asking anyone he can think of about the piece of music he's trying to figure out. Latch was an obvious choice because he can read musical notation. After the Xteenth person told him to just go ask the friggin wizard he went and consulted with Malec. Between L & M investigations revealed that the complete song is more of a chord progression /universal song that can be used in rituals that deal with elemental forces. Surprisingly enough there's an Air Cleric in town. maybe he has heard of it ? enter stage left: Strom. hooks there has been a string of murders between Rotting Blade and Blood Crescent. Within the last 3 weeks 6 people have been shredded in Rotting Blade alone and the locals are freaked the fuck out. after the characters get together, have a few beers and trade stories a pattern emerges. all of the victims were people Feng asked about the song, one of them was a fellow air cleric of Strom's. it looks like something is following in his tracks and gathering information, then disposing of the sources. general research, investigation, burglary and intimidation checks ensue. successful results reveal that the damage to the victims was usually focused on sensory areas, eyes, tongue, hands. also other investigating parties have zeroed in on the patterns and are currently suspecting Feng as being the cause of the murders rather then someone being tracked. the decision is made to stick together for the time being and face whatever is asking pointed questions as a group as opposed to being picked off (and apart) one at a time. Malec is having troubles with his purple moss supply. a group of local hoodlums is moving in on his territory and harvesting the moss he uses as a resource for the stuff he's brewing up. his customers are due in a few weeks and being shorted on an order is something they don't take kindly to. insert sound of broken bones here. dealing with the gang of amateur cooks before breaking off trade relations with the customers ( a gang of pirates / drugrunners ) seems like the thing to do. game we set up in the Mage Shop / coffeehouse and prepare to ambush whatever is going to come looking for us final destination style. a beartrap inside the entrance, the warforged on guard as an alarm. 4 am rolls around and a shifty figure enters the shop. Latch raises the alarm before the intruder steps in the trap and startles the fuck out of him. Strom casts 'grovel' and has the spell bounce back on him, then fails like a boss and grovels his way straight into the bear trap. it hurts. the intruder recovers, takes advantage of the situation and gives Strom a good slice across the throat. Malec wakes up, takes one look at the situation, goes offensive and casts Lichbolt, putting a cantelope sized hole in the guy's chest. game over. while checking the corpse we figure out that it was one of the amateur hoodlums / aspiring drug kingpins. oddly enough missing his right sock and shoe, but wearing a magical amulet. also showing signs of having used the purple stuff. in a stroke of pure genius Malec puts it on, fails a save and gets posessed. then procedes to take his dagger and stick it in the first person he sees. which is Strom, who's still stuck in the beartrap. again, it hurts. next round Malec manages to take off the amulet, breaking the posession, drops the dagger and keeps himself from being preemptively monkeystomped.general cleanup ensues. Malec chucks the dead body in the street and the locals are understandably freaked out. local constabulary gets called. the official story is "drugged up thug shot in self defense during attempted home invasion / robbery". we're ok as far as the cops are concerned. Malec puts the amulet the kid was wearing into one of the Magic Shop ingredient drawers with a post it note "cursed amulet, research later" stuck on it. Feng then moves the post it note two drawers over. there are three more hoodlums that this kid was running with. tom, dick and harry. having a word with them is next on the todo list. end of session , characters advance to level 2 next scheduled game: Aug. 23rd , 6.30 am PST (these are mostly just highlights. if i got anything wrong let me know. if you want to add something - ditto.)
