Greetings! This post is marking the beginning of the 2nd level 1-20 campaign this new, second campaign will have the "C2" or "campaign 2" label in these forums. the first campaign is labeled by the "C1 - Titans of the Demon Wastes" This will be the first Gestalt character campaign I've ran in 5th Edition. I'm a HUGE fan of gestalt from 3rd edition, having played level 10 - 24 gestalt for years in groups of 2 - 5. C2 is currently a group of 3 players, though we may expand on that in time if we want to expand the team... 5e lends itself well to gestalt. the rules are simpler than 3e, so adding a second class to clharacters is real easy. 1. there's no limit to the multiclassing available to either side of the gestalt progression. knock yourself out.. 2. you get two good saves.. pick among the "good" saves offered between both initial classes 3. you get all proficiencies of both classes. 4. spellcasting follows normal multiclass casting rules,so each casting class added to the character uses the same casting level table. while still conforming to the spell level limit and known/memorized spells / day as dictated by each class level taken. 5. each class retains their own ability score increase progression together... so characters will experience stat increases far more frequently than a standard character would. All stat caps still apply, I do allow feats, and I do allow stat increases to be traded for unique abilities discussed between player and DM. 6. duplicate class features are redundant. if one class grants a second attack per action at one level and then another class offers a second attack at another point... this is still only a second attack. it will not stack into a 3rd attack per action. these redundant abilities cannot be substituted for something else unless the character's class specifically allows swapping. 7. character level and class level abilities still function the same in gestalt as they do in standard. when determining character level we do not add class levels from both sides of the gestalt build. a 5th level fighter//3rd level wizard / 2nd level cleric is still a 5th level character. 8. best HP per level as provided by the classes chosen... a barbarian1//wizard1 would have 12+con bonus hp and has d12 recovery dice. 9.. i've probably missed something. I'll update when i figure out what that is.
