Battle Aftermath

Kelyn breaks free from Volkrak's grip and runs to where the Amber Dragon has crashed to the ground.  She falls to her knees attempting to heal the grievous wounds.  The spells have no effect.  Cradling the massive head to her chest, she rocks back and forth whispering in elvish "I'm sorry.  I'm so sorry." between sobs.
This isn't going to help Ragnar's case any, but to clarify what actually happens as when the Amber Dragon was initially downed it was only at -2 so was still healable, but Ragnar went up and did one final thrust into its head to ensure it could not be revived. Obviously he had no clue that Kelyn had summoned the Amber Dragon to aid in bringing down Gunther, which its probably best that he did not know that, however even if he did I don't think his actions would have changed. That being said, Ragnar did all of this out of protective instinct for his father. While Amber Dragons are typically neutral/good aligned creatures, it wouldn't have mattered if it was a Paladin trying to kill Gunther, Ragnar would have dropped him as well. At this very moment their is no life that Ragnar values higher than his father's as he believed for the last few dozen years that he was alone in the world. It doesn't matter if Gunther is the Hitler of this world, Ragnar is going to do everything in his power to try and bring him back to the side of good... or atleast neutral... even if it ends up costing Ragnar his life. Things will play out the way they do, as a player I enjoy playing Ragnar but as a character he is in a very complicated situation. Based on how everything plays out Ragnar could be killed, become an enemy of the party, or be forced to kill Gunther himself which I would probably deem him too mentally broken afterwards to continue playing and would retire him. So the odds are pretty stacked that I will be making a new character sometime in the near future.
The dragon was at -20 after the fall, so a much higher level cleric would have been needed...
Ah, I must have misheard.
Kelyn was sure she could keep Ragnar occupied long enough for the Amber Dragon to snatch Gunther and take off.  She did not intend for the dragon to die and feels like it is her fault.
Well, an Amber Dragon consumes dozens of trees a month, they are not big fans of Druids, nor are Druids big fans of Amber Dragons. They coexist at best.
Yeah Amber Dragons probably don't make good pets... stick to Cats... they're alot easier to kill ;).
