The Aftermath of the Aftermath

An interesting side note is the aphorism "Nature abhor's a vacuum." Applies in D&D in spades... Of course if you take out the apex predator, you must either replace it or see a shuffle of the lesser predators. You have gotten clues, let's see what you do with them.
Well the Fire Giants were certainly the apex predator of this area. With them gone there is going to be alot of conflict with whatever other evil inhabits this continent, however its much more likely that the people who live here stand a better chance against them then they did with the Fire Giants. It'd be impossible for us to make an area completely safe for its inhabitants, that is just the cycle of life. With a number of our group members being capable of making/obtaining their strongholds now it would be possible for us to do so in this region and see that it is properly protected, however that would fall on the others in the party. I think Kelyn already has her grove being worked on over in the other country, Ragnar has no interest in the idea, Volkrak may be willing to do it and I'm not sure who else is capable of having one currently.
I think we are (or at least Kelyn is) aiming for more of a balance between predator and prey, good vs evil, etc.  We know something is going to move in.  We just want to make sure it is not to overpowering.   Kelyn has been working on her grove over near Palanga during our downtime.  She is taking over the Hag's Hut area from earlier adventuring.  Not sure who from the current group was with her.  I remember Brundle was there and possibly Egandrol, not sure about anyone else.  The green and black dragons we took on were partially to clear her area.  I'm not sure what else has actually been done.  We should probably head over that way and check things out. She is not interested in establishing or supporting a stronghold.  She maybe willing to help other to do so -- again to bring balance into an area.   Oh and she just hit 9th level so has access to 5th level spells.  I need to study up on them some more but there are a few cool ones I can't wait to try.
For Kelyn you'll probably like Animal Growth. You can cause 8 animals to grow up to double their size, which essentially doubles their level (hp, attack, damage, ect) and lasts for 2 rounds per level, so 18 rounds for you. So you toss that on Brinley and she becomes a wrecking ball of fur, add Lance into the mix and he becomes better at dropping people. I don't think you have Necromancy right? If you do then Raise Dead and Cure Critical Wounds also open up for you, which are both very nice. Insect Plague can be nice against spellcasters, you can drop it on an area and it disables all spell casting and drops vision to a 10ft distance.
Ooh there are some good ones...  can't use Necromancy so no Raise Dead but some of the others....  Wall of Fire, Thornwreck, Animal Summoning II, Spike Stones, etc.
