I am starting a long-term homebrew campaign using Numenera's Cypher system. I will be using Ventrilo, and I require voice. I try to keep the game at a PG-13 maturity level, and I expect the same from my players. I generally run my games with about 60% roleplaying, 40% combat. I also tend to give out story rewards much more often than I give out better weapons or magic items. Attendance is important; I put a lot of time and effort into constructing adventures specifically centered around the player characters, and if you don't show up very often, your character will become more of an NPC that tags along with the group. I allow guests to join the group sometimes, and if you haven't been showing up, your character will be one of the ones I allow them to play. In fact, if someone joins the group as a guest, shows up regularly and plays your character, it will become their character and you do not get it back. I will be running sessions every scheduled week no matter how many people show up. If you are the only one that shows up on a week, you can expect to have a special adventure specifically tailored to your character, and will recieve rewards for it above and beyond the rest of the group. There will be a lot of mysteries and things that are not as they appear on the surface, and you will have to use both your character's skills and your own skills to solve them. The decisions you make will have an impact on the world, and there will not really be one right answer. The game will have a moderately serious tone, but I usually do include some humor. Try to keep the level of jokes and silliness appropriate to the situation. I do not mind people who like to strategize, but creativity will be rewarded much more than min/maxing your character will. I like my combats to be quick, and I hand wave a lot of minor details in less significant fights. A good plan before a fight can easily give you an advantage over your opponent, though it is just as easy for an unprepared group to be overwhelmed if they aren't prepared. I am using a "death-replacement" system that will cause your character to suffer a loss, but still live on. I do not use alignment. However, I am looking for people who want to play heroes. You can be brooding all you want, and be complicated and mysterious, but you should be willing to risk your life to help others without expectation of receiving a monetary reward on a regular basis. Not wanting to help people is a quick way for your character to become a NPC that isn't part of the story anymore. This doesn't mean you have to blindly rush into danger whenever possible, but like I said, I am looking for heroes. If you are interested in playing, send me a private message with your character idea with your preferred background and character concept. Also give me a backstory for your character. The information you need regarding the setting is here: http://gnurdy.blogspot.com/ If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Once I have character concepts I will send out the information needed to work up character stats.
