I have no trouble handling small tasks out-of-game. But the problem is that without play, how to differentiate the small tasks from critical (or dangerous) actions? Even just asking questions of people around the neighborhood could open up a "random encounter" or even a combat. Obviously, you can buy/sell outside of a session, or spend experience. In addition, you can discuss and plan ahead - maybe make a list of so we can jump right into the action in-game. Also, if you just want to ask questions about the setting or what your character already knows, then I'd be glad to answer. Perhaps if you want to accomplish very safe, very generic tasks like "I want to build a robot" or "I want to spend some time with Scooney"... However, I don't see any way that trying to explore or learn new information would really work. Keep in mind that your characters have been SUPER active. In the course of a ten-day, you've been all over town (and the planet), been in several firefights, interacted with tons of groups and people, and ended up needing urgent medical care several times. At some point, unless you are living on StimDose, your characters just need rest. For better meta, I'm kinda glossing over that and assuming that it happens between sessions...
