[LFP] Sword and Sorcery in Nehwon [GMT]

1442357001

Edited 1442385865
Nehwon Sundered from us by gulfs of time and stranger dimensions dreams the ancient world of Nehwon with its towers and skulls and jewels, its swords and sorceries. Nehwon's known realms crowd about the inner sea: northward the green-forested fierce Land of the Eight Cities, eastward the steppe-dwelling Mingol horsemen and the desert where caracans creep from the rich Eastern Lands and the River Tilth. But southward, linked to the desert only by the Sinking Land and further warded by the Great Dike and the Mountains of Hunger, are the rich grain fields and walled cities of Lankhmar, eldest and chiefest of Nehwon's lands. Dominating the Land of Lankhmar and couching at the silty mouth of the River Hlal in a secure corner between the grain fields, the Great Salt Marsh, and the Inner Sea is the massive walled and mazy-alleyed metropolis of Lankhmar, thick with thieves and shaven priests, lean-framed magicians and gat-bellied merchants - Lankhmar the Imperishable, the City of the Black Toga. This game will be run with Runequest 6 and using mumble for voice. (You will only need the  essentials to play.) It will be played on Thursdays at 7 GMT (Not taking summertime into account here so English time.) I am looking for two more players that are interested in adventuring into the world of Nehwon. It will be a sword and sorcery type of game that will send you out on adventures both in Lankhmar and out into the world of Nehwon. It will be a heavy roleplay game where combat won't be the focus, so if you are expecting D&D in this setting I am sorry but this game will disappoint you. The game will revolve around the characters and their place in the world. It will be a sandbox type of game with hooks from the characters background and from other influences so there will be plenty of things to do. If you have any questions then please send me a PM or write here but if you want to apply for the game then please do write an application on the  LFG page. I hope to hear from you and see you in the City of the stinking black bones!
Ken said: Wish I could make the time, but I'm EST. I'm a huge Leiber fan and Lankhmar is hands down my favorite fantasy setting. I've wanted to run a Lankhmar game myself and have been debating over which of the three recent systems Lankhmar has been released in to use; Savage Worlds vs DCC vs Runequest. I think Runequest is the best system to handle the swords & sorcery grittiness and lethality. Unfortunately the best choice of system is the hardest to find players for. I wish you luck! I am sorry you can't make it but I got two people that I usually play with that are in the group and they can't make any other day. I love the setting as well and I was debating using Elric! instead but I think I prefer Runequest, I hope since there is a free book thats all you need someone might be tempted into playing since you do not have to buy a book to be able to play. But thank you for your well wishes.
Ken said: Elric! was a great game, but Runequest 6 is phenomenal. It's so refined, it really is a thing of beauty. Their decision to release a streamlined version in the Essentials was also a great move which I hope gets more people to try out the system. Of course it helps you that all the Lankhmar MRQII stuff is compatible. I was really looking forward to more Lankhmar from them, as I said, I think Runequest is superior to Savage Worlds or DCC for a Lankhmar style game.  Anyway, give Ningauble my best when you see him! I can only agree with you there. Elric! suffered from the same thing as many BRP games, fights can turn into ping-pong fights. Runequest 6 is just wonderful, there are a few things that can be a little strange to wrap your head around if you are new but I hope that I will do a good job of explaining everything if we get a new player. Essentials is wonderful it means that I as a GM have the book but the players does not have to make a big investment without trying the game first. I have been looking for the Mongoose Lankhmar book for Runequest and the only place I can buy it is on Amazon and they do not ship it to where I live so I am working on that for now. I will let both Ningauble and Sheelba know! I hope you find a Nehwon game in your timezone and if the game changes day to a weekend I will let you know.
If you do not know Runequest 6, do not worry I will happily teach you.
Bump
And one more bump.
I'm looking for a game to play, and the time works for me, but I'm rather ignorant about Runequest. Allow me a few hours to look at the book, and I'll get back to you :)

Allow me a few hours to look at the book, and I'll get back to you :) Sure not a problem at all its a basic d100 system with some very nice rules. If you are interested throw me a PM with your skype so we can have a chat.
