Hardcore Low Magic 5E Campaign Any Interest?

If you are a Number Cruncher, you can stop reading right now... If you view your PC as a bunch of numbers and your sole purpose in playing is to increase those numbers, stop reading now... But If you could play a one eyed rogue with a Dexterity of 15 then this would be right up your alley... I'm hoping to have a few players who want something of a real challenge, a challenge to survive, a challenge to excel in face of adversity, a challenge to rise from poverty, characters who can go from "Rags to Riches" without a bunch of convoluted number crunching rules that complicate Role Play and slow the game to a crawl... If this sounds like the challenging game you'd like to try, keep reading, after you see the Hardcore 5E house rules that do change the game dramatically and still would like to try this, Post Something here. HARDCORE HOUSE RULES 5E Low Magic, condensed healing, permadeath... Hardcore Old School: 5E, Limited Races and Classes, Rolled Stats 2d6+5, Rolled Hit Points, Monster Rolled Hit Points, money that is actually worth something... 5E: Game will use 5th Edition Mechanics, Inspiration, Advantage/Disadvantage, Proficiency Low Magic: Magic Items are very rare, Spell Components are used and expended, wild magic zones and zones where magic doesn't work at all... Condensed Healing: Healing Items are rare and expensive. Heavy wounds like disembowelment or compound bone breaks do not simply heal over night. A night's peaceful rest heals one hit point period. There are no temporary hit points. During a Short Rest you still can gain 1 Hit Dice + Con back... PermaDeath: Taking a Page From Dungeon World, when you are reduced to zero hit points, you IMMEDIATELY make an unmodified d20 roll, on a 16+ you gain 1 Hit Point and are concious, on a 6 to 15, Death Asks you if you want to return to life with a consequence, if you choose yes, you gain 1 hit Point and are concious, on a 5 or less you are Dead as in NOT COMING BACK. What are the consequences, anything the DM can think of that would be apprieate, and example might be, "you can never use bladed weapons again" if you break that pact Death comes and takes you away! Limited Races: Humans, Elves, Dwarfs, Halflings Limited Classes: Clerics, Fighters, Paladins, Rangers, Rogues, Wizards Rolled Stats: Close to Old School, One Set of Numbers, 2d6+5, generating ability scores between 7 and 17, put in any order and racial adjustments are made, NO ABILITY CAN EVER EXCEED 18 without some type of magical enchancment... Rolled Hit Points: After Level 1 all Hit Points are rolled... Monster Rolled Hit Points: Monsters hit points are rolled creating a more realistic and varied encounter... Money: Copper, Silver, Electrum, Gold, Platinum. Expenses are real, there are consequences for not having funds when you need them... The Game's trials will be scaled to reflect the difficulty of the challenges... If you are still here and are up to the challenge post something here, if there is an interest for some players I will continue to update this post with further information such as Time and Day... Thanks for you interest... -Ajax
You might want to look into DDS then. Some of those things, like rolling for hit points, I don't do. But the game can easily be difficult. One of my upcoming games will have what I call "relative health". You only know you've been shot in the shoulder and are bleeding. You only "feel" how weak you are. No numbers. The only problem would be finding other players who would like such a difficulty for the game. <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2400923/dds-a-flexible-and-creative-rule-set-creativity-is-rewarded/?pageforid=2400923#post-2400923" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2400923/dds-a-flexible-and-creative-rule-set-creativity-is-rewarded/?pageforid=2400923#post-2400923</a>
Druids aren't limited?
Hey, i'm interested in this game and i have a few friends that might join too.
This rule set is great and I would like to play. My available days are Sundays Mondays and Wednesday evenings and/or Monday through Friday mornings EST.
I would like to play depending on the day it is. I currently am available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and could try and work something out on Wednesdays (have a bi weekly wednesday game.)&nbsp; Might also be available on Mondays in the future. I am in the Pacific time zone, and play hackmaster so I am used to a harsh world setting barely scraping by.&nbsp; If allowed would probably play a wizard cleric or rogue, not a big melee fan.
It looks like the day will be either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and the Time will be either 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM CDT, this means, East Coast 8:00 or 9:00 and West Coast 5:00 or 6:00... I have worked out most of the details and will continue to update this as we settle on a time and day... Would like to have a few more players who are interested... Thanks -Ajax

Hi Ajax, I'd be interested in joining as well if there's still an open spot. Thursday would be preferred (but not exclusive), with favor towards a Human Fighter initially. If I may ask, what level is the party going to start at? Cheers, Nick
Count me in as interested. &nbsp;Never played 5th ed. But I catch on quick (old school 2nd ed player )
Characters will start at level 1 with next to nothing. I'm taking a page out of Dungeon World and giving the players some freedom, as an example I might tell the party, " A tall human with a scarred face walks into the tavern you are drinking in and saunters up to the bar ..." Then ask Player A (a Dwarf Fighter), " Who is he, how do you know him, and what do you do ?" From here as you can see anything could happen, Dwarf player might say he's friend, he saved my life once, or maybe he killed my brother, or maybe he sold you an ax that broke the first time you used it, you can see where this could go... I really want this to be Hardcore, where money has real value, where survival is an actual reward, and where stories of ordinary folk become legendary heroes... That said this will not be for players whose whole reason for playing is BIGGER NUMBERS, MORE DAMAGE, there are some fights you can't always win... As with all my 5E games I will have detailed maps and tactical adversaries AND PLENTY of ROLE PLAYIN'... So do you have what it takes to show up every week, even if it's with a new character because your last 3 went out in horrible but exciting ways? Just kidding (or is he?) Find out in Hardcore 5E! -Ajax &nbsp;
I have sent out some Private Messages with a few more details... -Ajax
Hi Ajax, I'm interested in joining as well. I have some experience playing D&D since I've been playing from 3E up to 5E. I'm one of the players that Nick S. uses to master from time to time, yet I've never seen him play, haha. I'm not gonna lie, I do like to deliver mighty blows and deal tons of damage, but it's never been my main goal. I, along with my usual party of friends, are not really used to really role play the game, but I'd like to have a more immersive experience, so I think this is a great opportunity. If you still have a place left, please, do contact me. I'd like to play either a Human Fighter (2HW) or a Human Ranger (DW & Bow) Regards. JJ
Hi Ajax, if your still looking for more players, send me a PM. I'm open on Tuesday and Wednesday, would like to play either a Paladin, Rogue, or Fighter.
Hi Ajax: &nbsp;I'm in, i've been playing D&D for 10 years with Juan Manuel J. and Nick S. (Main GM), if u need a Human Ranger or Fighter i'm your player, i also like monks very very much lol. Regards RCA
Very interested player with a preference of Tuesday and Wednesday but could do Thursday if need be. I would most likely be interested in playing a Wizard, (Mainly because I like the idea of someone finally making spell component usage mandatory) Been looking for a heavier role playing focused game for awhile and this seems like it would be right up my alley. Sent you a PM as well Ajax. If there's any available slots still left I'd love to have one.
It has now been decided that the game will play on Thursday Nights, at 7:00 PM CDT... -Ajax
Well, if there's still openings, I can make thursdays and would very much like to join.
Hi there! Are there still openings left? I would love to participate :D
I'll ditto the above two, but really I'm curious how it works out. I ran a lowmagic 5th game myself with similar goals (few magic items, gold is worth something, healing takes a while) but I went a far less hardcore route out of fear of my ability to actually run the thing.

This Campaign is now full... However if there would be enough interest for a Wednesday Game I will run another campaign using these same rules... -Ajax
Edited post...
This sounds very interesting, I can make that time on both Thursdays and Wednesdays. If there is a second campaign I'd be looking to play a wizard or a cleric. &nbsp;
There may be a second campaign if there are enough people interested, this one would play on Wednesday Nights... -Ajax
If you have space open on Thursday, let me know! Sadly, I can't do a Wednesday game, only other night would be Tuesday or Monday.&nbsp;
The Thursday Game is Full... -Ajax

Just want to salute you for running a game like this! A hardcore/survival 5e game has been on my mind a lot but don't have time for another game.
