LFG gestalt pathfinder game. evenings any day of the week except sunday.

this would be my second campaign ever. ive been learning quickly but i doubt that i have gotten everything down. i would like join a higher level campaign, at least level 8 or 9 starting, with as few limitations on character customization as possible. would also very much like it if the campaign would get into epic levels but if it doesnt i do understand. would like a campaign with a good balance between combat and rp. i dont mind a little heavy either way but too much and i lose interest. id be happy to do most campaigns weather it be fighting an undead cult or demon worshippers it matters not lol. i know im being a little picky here but this is my second campaign and im trying to find one as close to what im looking for as possible. i dont mind some limitation but being forbidden classes isnt for me. i can be flexible on these things im not super rigid or anything i know finding the perfect game would be next to impossible. but would really like something as close as possible. i have a couple of character templates that i feel would work well for a gestalt game. so creating a character wouldnt take long. but i can happily create something new if needed.

oh im in a game already thats on sundays. 6-10 central. so cant exactly play 2 games at the same time. lol.but its good to know the kind of game im looking for does exist. lol. and if your looking for the same thing on any day but friday and saturday we have a good start for a group for like mon-thurs. haha.
Yes games that allow more stuff are just more fun to play in overall, i've been trying to find another for a while now. And well if your sunday ever frees up let me know lol.
well sundays are unlikely to be freed up any time soon. but hopefully can find a game soon. would really like to play alot more often than i get to.
Right, i hate only playing 1 day because it feels liek an eternity till you get to play again.
well there is that. but im the type of person who likes to binge on games. id play for a good 5-6 hours every day if i could. i just know thats never going to happen so haveing a second game to play per week at least would be nice.
Right would be nice to just drop a few hours a day on a game.
yep. you know random. considering we've both been looking for a game for awhile perhaps we should combine our search? you said you were looking for a game not on friday or saturday right? well monday-thursday works for me. and we might have better luck with 2 people looking for a group than each of us searching individually. figure since we're both searching for the same thing i may as well ask. lol.

I would love a gestalt pathfinder game also. Prefer a megadungeon.
What I dont want in a gestalt is people to abuse gestalt to hyper-focus thier damage.  Uber-chargers, titan fighters/abyssal bloodragers, cannon archers...  Gestalt should complement and expand what you can do, and make conbinations not otherwise possible or make them easier.. not make your  damage so high nothing can survive one round of you attacking.  I want to see Cursed bombers (alchemist/witch) or arcane assassins (rogue /arcanist or wizard or magus) and other combos. Not combos that hit for 40 a swing at level 4..
seeing some of those classes would be awesome. and would agree to that pretty much being the point of gestalt. tho i wouldnt want a megadunegon. id want a campaign that could possibly reach into epic levels. tho if it stopped at 20 i would understand since apparently the numbers in epic levels get to be alot to deal with. one thing ive always wanted to do is take the cloud castle of the storm king. the kingmaker campaign seems cool i have what i think to be a pretty cool idea for a mountain city. rise of the runelords also seems pretty cool. i would however be perfectly willing to do a homebrew campaign if its done well. but megadungeons. not my deal. lol.
Im fine with an adventure path too, they just arent meant for gestalt so generally would be too easy without modification.  Mega-dungeons tend to be hard, resulting in gestalt being about right in the power curve.

oh i would assume any adventure path being played by gestalt characters would be made harder. otherwise what would be the point? the combat would be so easy there would be no sense of adventure. just gotta switch out harder monsters. instead of zombies we fight wights. instead of hill giants we fight frost giants. or fire, or cloud, or storm. lol. with the amount of monsters available i imagine itd be pretty easy to customize any adventure path for more difficult combat. however it does seem as tho we have 3 people who would be down for a game mon-thurs. getting one more and a gm to gm it all is really all we need now. unless im wrong in thinking youd be down for a game mon-thurs evening hungry gnome.
Yep, works for me just fine.  And have to be careful on swapping.  Gestalt makes us a little tougher, and able to go longer between rests.. it doesnt jump us up 3-4 CR in fights though.   Still have to balance it so it doesnt become rocket tag or so we arent dealing with thing we cant handle (swarms, incoporeal, and level drain being the cheif ones)
indeed indeed. i was just giving examples. tho admittedly not great ones. if we're supposed to be fighting 2 hill giants 2 frost giants might be abit much. definately cloud and storm giants would be too much. but is also why im no gm. haha.
Megacampaigns that encompass a lot of types like; kingdom building, dungeon crawling, etc are the best.
well random while this would be only my second campaign so im not sure what does and does not qualify as best. i will say a megacampaign encompassing kingdom building, dungeon crawling, possibly some large conspiracy, or invasion from the abyss, which with the world wound wouldnt be out of the question does sound epic and fun as hell.
i wouldn't mind trying out a gestalt game but would have to figure a chat i could use i don't have access to skype but i do have raid call and roll20 actually works for me surprisingly good only had problems with it one til i started plugging mic in first then joining game and use chrome. mon and tues i have games but depending on time could do a work around maybe. my timezone is central the game on tuesday is at 1130am and the game on monday is at 630pm tuesday game is prolly just gona be me showing up for about 20min since its a pvp game and currently my evening game on tuesday is still on hiatus. now im somewhat new to gestalt so not quite sure how it works with normal classes.
Basically, you take 2 classes at once.  You take the better BAB, skill points, Hit Dice, Saves, etc..  but get access to all class abilities of both.  So a Cleric / Rogue has d8 HP, good FORT, REF, and WILL save, 8 + INT skill points, etc..  but all the class abialities of both a cleric and a rogue.
i find one of the advantages to being gestalt to be taking a martial class which gets no spells. and combining it with an arcane or divine class so you get its spells as tho you were only that class. of course with this game i am teetering between doing that and doing a mystic theurge. now as far as the day. it seems like tuesday or wednesday would then be the best day for everyone involved. as far as time frame goes is something we can figure out later as a group. jon, if you want to join up we'd be happy to have ya. give us a nice 4 person group. we could do with another player or two but 4 is enough to get a good game started. which of course means all we need now is a gm. so 2 questions, does anyone know a good gm that could gm this game for us? and if not should i start a new topic searching for just a gm?
wed would be best for me so what chat can everyone use is everyone ok with using roll20 chat
curse is a good one to use if you cant use skype. my current group uses that and it works out quite well. just call into the group and so on.
is it required to need a webcam to use skype or can you use it with just a mic ?
just a mic is fine. i dont have a webcam either. have calls on both skype and curse no problem. heck dont even need a webcam for a video call with someone if they have a webcam.
oh when i read req i thought you needed a webcam or you wouldn't be able to use it. so maybe i can use skype ill have to find out.
ok so i just downloaded skype now but have no clue how i would link it with roll20
you dont. we would get your skype handle from you through private message shortly before the game actually starts. and add you to friend lists.
ok
yep. so anyone know a gm who can gm the game for us? and if not should i start a new topic searching specificly for a gm for this game?
We could probably make a new thread, I think Wednesday seems like it would be a good game day. I personally myself would like to start at a higher level than normal, with a little customization freedom of like a couple CR to spend on templates or something for the funsies. I think that a large world/planar hopping with good aspects of dungeon busting, adventuring, kingdom building, etc; things that actually have cause and effect to the world based on our actions make for an amazing game. Of course the details and stuff are totally negotiable based on if we find a dm lol
yeah me too im not a fan of starting at lvl 1 cause usually those games end when you hit 3rd or 4rth lvl.
yep. the minimum level i wanna start at is 8. tho would prefer lvl 10. ive always been a fan on hopping between planes. and kingdom building seems pretty cool too. personally im a fan of crafting as well. ive always kind of wanted to make a golem crafter. lol. which if i went mystic theurge i think i would have to do. tho magic arms and armor and wonderous items would be crafted as well. i mean some of them are pretty awesome. lol.
i love crafting too but none of my games ive ever been in my 8years gave enough down time for crafting.
level 9 personally is my sweet spot since you get access to next level spells feats and bab usually
and what point buy would everyone prefer
Dont powergame this too far guys, no one will want to run it for us, and it will just turn into rocket tag ( aka, its nuke them before they nuke us.. no fun at all ).  Level 7-9 is where I would prefer, no prestige classes allowed, no templates or LA.   Gestalt is strong enough as is, dont make this into an excuse to have a God complex.  20-25 point buy, leaning towards 25.  No starting stat ( including racial adjustments ) above 18.  Yes, im a bit restrictive, but I have seen too many gestalt games ( most of them ) fall apart due to people ramping the power level up too high with thier builds for the game to be playable.

well. while i would want a prestige class. i can definately agree to the 25 point buy. i was actually leaning towards the 20 myself. the no starting stat above 18 would be more than fine too. seems like we all mostly agree on starting level as well. but i do see your point gnome and would agree itd be unfortunate if that happened in this game. i said in my first post i can be flexible and know that not everything i want im going to get. thatd get alittle crazy. but if at least some of the things id like are in the game i can be happy. prestige classes and at least decent-ish loot would be my big 2. probably most of the good items being given out as quest rewards. but im a loot hoarder. im the type of person who will walk encumbered a crossed the map of skyrim to my storage. lol. i cant function without at least a half decent amount of loot. lol. crafting i can live without. its most certainly not a deal breaker for me. i just like the idea of creating golems and some pretty nice items at the much later levels. but realisticly i feel at best the best way to do crafting would probably be in a limited capacity. not really allowing the crafting of certain things too early. needing to find the crafting blue prints for some of the more powerful items. kingdom building would probably be better if it was the main focus of the game with some story and such going on during it. so i can live without that as well tho would like to try it at some point. im more partial to the awesome quests so to speak. id like something big to be going on that we gotta stop. going after the cloud castle of the storm king would be awesome too, tho at later levels. i mean we are gestalt characters after all the later levels are going to get alittle crazy regardless. possibly in some unexpected ways. i would concede however that starting builds with a prestige class would have to be okayed. and if it isnt with the discretion of the gm possible to maybe earn through playing the game. tho of course if its something that is absolutely known to be way too op in combat that would be understandable to not really want in the game. but i would definately prefer not restricting the prestige classes entirely. im not opposed to op. but if its too epic combat starts to be less fun. not entirely sure what you mean by templates and LA tho. could you explain that?
there are templates like giant advanced and some templates that change your species type for little to no lvl adjustment like you can be undead for 1-2 LA meaning your character if lvl 8 took undead you would be lvl 6 but have the undead traits.
so templates are like the alternate racial traits and such? if thats the case i can live with that tho i do like a number of them. if its restricting to the core races i dunno if i would like that as i would likely want to play as either a tiefling or aasimar. i am still not sure what you mean by LA though. but i would assume any kinds of traits like that would probably have to be earned in same way or something. takeing some extreme undead traits if one has pretty much just become undead would seem extreme.
but yeah im with you im not a big fan of banning classes and races cause when i build a character i try to be unique most the time and when half the races are banned or core only same with classes it really makes it hard to mix and max classes. also alignment thing on classes is just plain silly in my opinion cause that makes it even harder to make a unique character.
well with some races i think that the alignment things make sense. i agree entirely with almost the entire pathfinder description of tielfing. alignment and religion included. and am prepared for the prejudices it would likely bring me. but im alittle racist against most of the core races. and i cant say id like to play a halfling or gnome just yet in my table top gaming. i do imagine ill play more things as i continue playing. but for now i have afew races i would really like to play. infact just to make things easier. ill just say my first and second choices for builds. 1st would be a chaotic neutral tiefling. he is a fighter/sorcerer/dragon disciple. and fights with a bastard sword and his claws. my second choice would be either a chaotic good or true neutral aasimar. leaning towards TN. he would be something arcane/ something divine/ mystic theurge. this one would probably require the prestige class to be earned. seems like it would be op to actually start as. ive also been toying with an idea for a pathfinder chronicler. but i dont really feel like playing a bard just yet and i dont know what other class to put with it. and possibly a lawful neutral assassin. but those are really more ideas. i havent really figured much out about those. i can likely come up with other builds if needed. lol.
i was thinking of doing monk/witch or barb/monk or maybe even monk/warpriest
guys we hopefully have a gm for the game. he told me he sent you all a link to a game. we should all join it and discuss the details there i think.
i got the link and i joined up
just thought of another good combo i could get used to warpriest/rogue
